Just as well I’m a morning person too … I’ve just booked the car in for its cam belt change (all in the price when I bought it). Thing is they’d like it there as soon after 8am as possible … and the garage is about 45 mins away … we’ll have to set the alarm for a change on 9 May.
Good luck with the bittern @Punkdoc … my most recent siting was at Hen Reedbeds near Southwold. Hen Reedbeds Nature Reserve | Suffolk Wildlife Trust
It was my favourite place to go and unwind after visiting Ma when she didn’t have a scooby who I was.

      Good morning all.

Back to the grind of work this week so not much opportunity to read and post here. I usually have Wednesday off though, which is a good breather and recharger midweek.

I am not naturally a morning person, so I do try to sit outside with a cuppa before work during the lighter months, as the morning light is supposed to help with sleep/wake cycles. You are supposed to have the same routine for rising and sleeping every day for the best circadian rhythms, with no lazy lie-ins on the weekend etc, but I relish at least one day of no alarm clock and sleeping for as long as I fancy.

Last night was a Full Moon, but it was too cloudy to really see here. April is the Pink Moon - so named by Native Americans as it corresponded with the blooming of the wildflower Phlox subulata (moss phlox or moss pink). I liked your moon pic @PatE.

      Have a lovely day everyone.

Hello all, another grey cold day, it was warmer in the winter than it is now!
We are waiting for our repaired old mower to be delivered anytime soon, otherwise it's indoor jobs today, OH has just been filling in holes in the floor where he removed plaster board partitions.
        Have a good day all.

I actually saw it here this morning when I got up @AuntyRach. It was a beauty.
Hope that the mower arrives soon @floralies. Will you be giving it a test drive today?

                Good afternoon,
I do wish the weather would start to warm up, it’s so cold, especially with the cutting breeze making it feel worse. Annoyingly, I’d put a load of washing out which was drying nicely and about to put out the next load when it started to rain, so got the airer out. Typically, it is now bright again. I’ll see how it is when the bed sheets have finished their cycle, and may risk putting them on the line.
I didn’t see the full moon last night, too cloudy I think.

@floralies Our big mower came back late from its annual service (largely due to OH being tardy getting it booked in) and by then the grass was too long for it and it doesn't like wet grass either so he's gradually strimming his way through our hectare getting it sorted for mowing. He could be at it a long time. Jolly cold here too.

Saw the moonlight but not the moon @Ladybird4 as it was overhead when I was up in the middle of the night. That Cosmos pussy wanted feeding and is very persistent at being pesky.

Freezing my alpines off this morning, enjoying a latte. Building works next door. They keep arriving, going away, arriving. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Just picked up a few alpines for my rockery in the ‘Diddli-Dee’ SM - they have almeria, saxifrages etc £1.79.

I “only went in for a sandwich” to take to my study day tomorrow. Looking forward to the day as we have a guest speaker who is a coach and performance mentor (mentored Team GB for Rio ‘16).

Wednesday. Morning all. it is 9:33AM here. was up at 7:30AM. A little local newspaper reading, noticed an awesome house auction happening in May, might go, its amazing how cheap, good stuff can be bought there. There is the "Lets keep for special occasion stuff", then folks die, and its sold for nothing. To me, quality was made better back then than today. Not sure how you all do your house auctions. But a quick visual, is boxes of stuff from the house is lined up on the lawn areas, and inside the house. Usually two Food Trucks about. Its an all day thing for the most part. Lots of Amish show up also, so horses and buggies are tied about. Cars are parked forever on the street leading to the house. And the auctioneer has his loud speaker. Depending on the size, there maybe to Auctioneers, they split up the areas, and items of a certain subject are circled in those areas. Fun to people watch also. And of course there are porta poddies. Your allowed to walk about looking at all the boxes and to figure out when the auctioneer is getting to that section. So you hang out as he moves about to your section of interest. Then you join is after you watch the bidding, and determine your limit.

The moon was bright over here last night. I love chilly weather, good to sleep with.

                        Ok, onward to stuff. Later.

No Bitterns, but saw plenty of other birds.

Also visited a new Nursery that was recommended to me by a gardener at Sheffield Botanical Gardens and very good it was too. He is a guy who has worked at Dixter and Beth Chatto's and grows all his own plants. Good prices too.

@Rosie loves nature, the one positive thing is that eventually the builders will finish the job and then you should get back to peace and quiet.
@redstar, that type of auction is unknown to me. It sounds as though you could end up with a choice item but you could also end up with a load of tat. Of course if you enjoy 'upcycling' then it could be ideal.

Evening all, thankfully it's been mostly sunny today but sometimes a chilly NW breeze. We've taken it easy today, just walked through the community orchard to the paper shop this morning, drank coffee/read the paper and then I went back to the orchard to plant some native primrose plants I didn't want/need in various places. Hope they survive and spread eventually. Good for early bees. I also did two lots of washing and got them nearly dry outside.
After lunch, I dug up the small iris reticulata bulbs I'd planted last week and planted the six City of Harlem hyacinths in their place - which is what I should have done in the first place but forgot that was my intention! I wanted them in the bed nearest the front door opposite where we park the car so we can appreciate their perfume in the spring, That's the plan.
I'm now waiting (and drinking pink wine) for our DIL to arrive with dinner. Wonder what she's cooking for us tonight! Have a good evening everybody.
