I’ve just sorted out my knitting wool stash … it still fills the big blanket chest … but at least now I know now that there’s enough of some wools to knit something … it’s not all destined for mending … and I feel very virtuous :hapydancsmil:

      Good afternoon.
Thank you for your best wishes @pattie and @Blue arbour@lizzie27
A few hours of retail therapy has worked wonders for me. Really lifted my spirits. I didn’t actually buy anything but it was nice to have a browse and be away from the house.
Now I will do the housework that I should have done this morning.
@pattie I hope your hand is not too sore. I find secateurs are the most lethal tool for me. The times I have cut into my finger instead of the branch!!
Enjoy the rest of your day

Thursday morning, 9:30 Am here, a beautiful sunny chilly morning, 44 degrees.

spent a couple hours again on the road trip planning --coastline--to Nova Scotia. A goal is to do get on a boat for Whale watching when up there, but now have to rethink where we will stay, as I am not driving 2 hours to get on a boat, back to the map looking at places to stay. I am now considering lining up two places to stay in Nova Scotia, one at the far East/North and one at the West/South end, and split the stay, 4 days each, just so one of the stays will be closer to a boat going out, Whale watching and maybe fishing too.

So far have locked down, our first stop in Massachusetts, where we will get to roam about in Boston, and then Salam, both a reasonable driving distance, staying 3 nights The second stop is close enough to Bar Harbor, Maine, which is another focus tour place, staying 3 nights.

You, know its not just the organizing going up, its also the organizing coming back down to home, and finding interesting things to see alone the way. Nuts. But fun.

Trying to keep the driving in between around the 5 hour or less mark.

Yep, hope to get out to garden today. But its looking good. Later.

          Good afternoon all,
that's good news @Dovefromabove, have you decided what to knit next? I've just been amused by an online article about a group of knitters in Shepton Mallet who knitted a group of nude figures to go in a cafe window to raise money for charity. Regretfully somebody wasn't amused so the cafe owner has covered up the 'naughty' bits! It's caused such a furore that lots more people have visited and donated to the charity which is brilliant.

I was not amused however when I went online about an hour ago to check on our online food delivery this afternoon and found out it's been cancelled at very short notice. No other slots available until late Saturday which is a pain but I think we can manage until then. They have given us compensation of £20 however which is not to be sniffed at.

Hope your lunch goes well @Busy-Lizzie and that it hasn't rained - which it is doing here unfortunately so I've been gardened off. Will just have to do the ironing instead which is a pity.

Do let us know if you bought anything @Brenda, hope your blues have gone away and yours too @Punkdoc.

Do you know the full name of the previous owner @RowlandsCastle? If so, I could see if I can find out their date of birth for you?

@Dovefromabove and @lizzie27 - the naked cafe group sounds like good fun. How on earth can anybody get upset about that sort of thing - unless it was positively obscene of course. Some people are just so prudish about nudity - even when it involves knitted figures FFS.

Did you see Margaret Seaman from Caister on Look East this week Dove?. 95 years old and she's a very clever and talented super-knitter. She's knitted all sorts and has raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity (for which she was awarded the British Empire Medal). Her most famous creations include a Knittingale Hospital created during lockdown (she got a nice letter from Boris about that one) and a masterpiece recreation of Sandringham House. Her work was seen and admired by the late Queen. Such a lovely lady.

@redstar - we had a most enjoyable holiday some years ago in Maine and loved Bar Harbor. We started off in Boston (possibly my favourite American City so far) and very much enjoyed travelling up and staying in Vermont with all those lovely old covered bridges. We spent a few days in Camden which was a pretty harbour town and convenient for Rockport and other boatey places. Also a good base for buying lobsters if memory serves me. Some nice places to choose from for your travels.

              Hi @lizzie27
I know the birth date of our previous owner. It's the one before that I don't know - nor his/her/their names(s).
Of course, I've no idea who installed it.
But thank you for the offer.
BTW, dare I ask HOW you might obtain it? Do you work for MI5?

At the Food Bank today, there was a steady trickle of clients which helped the time to pass. So much more different to Maundy Thursday when Bestie and I were last on duty and we only had 3 families visit. It absolutely heaved it down the whole morning and then when we left it had actually stopped.
@Brenda, I managed to get my booster booked for a week on Friday - the same day I have a blood test booked. Thought I would kill two birds with one stone. Sorry you were feeling a bit down in the dumps this morning and hope you feel happier now.
@pattie - ouch! I managed to cut the little finger on my right hand last week. Lots of blood so it did look worse than it was but I was wondering if my tetanus resistance is OK!
@RowlandsCastle, how is the puzzling going?

Thanks, will keep those in mind for the trip down, or back home. We have been to Vermont and had the chance to see the Champlain Islands there, so beautiful. Hoping to eat lots of lobster in Maine and in Nova Scotia, one of the Whale boat companies in NS have a lobster dinner on it at 6PM. We have lots of covered bridges around my area. Interesting, of all the American Cities I have been to guess I never had one jump out to me as a favorite, but I am not a city girl, so a collection of brick and mortar, and closeness of buildings starts to bother me after a while, give me wide open spaces where my eyes don't stop. Although in towns such as Boston you do find interesting restaurants.

@redstar, some very impressive planning going on there. Will you share the 5 hours of driving as I'm always shattered after a 3 hour drive and would never manage 5?
@Topbird, it must have been a pleasant surprise to find a 'spare week' - looking forward to more Travels with T'Bird reports. All sauces went today so thanks once again for the plants. :spinning:
