Morning everyone. Hubby was asked by a couple of friends to collect them from across the valley to take them into town early today because they are off for a couple of weeks travel to NZ. We will be clearing their letter box as well while they’re away. I lazily slept in while he went. Cold this morning. We are supposed to be getting rain for a couple of days as well. That’ll be good.

        Good morning all :coffee1:
Glad you’re getting some rain @PatE … we’ve had enough for a while. As @Ladybird4 says some warmer temperatures wouldn’t come amiss either. Brrr!

          Good morning all.
I also had enough rain for a while, but it's still cloudy morning. I was yesterday afternoon at cottage and finish with planting potatoes. I'll go again today, because next week will be packed with other things. We will be working next Saturday, due to election Wednesday ten days ago. It's too much information for early morning, so relax, have a nice day, and I'm going to make my tea.

Morning @Ante1, you have just reminded me that I must get my vote for the local elections in the post soon. I wondered when the extra Saturday would be fitted in.

Good morning all. The sun is out at the moment but not for long.
This morning I will be shopping with OH and then this afternoon my sisters are coming for coffee.
Must ring my son as it’s his 51st birthday today. Where do the years go??
              Enjoy your day

@Ladybird4, it will be next Saturday, 4th of May, because next Wednesday is bank holiday, and on the end it will be normal five working days week.

                  Good morning

Wild and blustery this morning with grey skies and rolling grey clouds. Apparently, rain not forecast today but tomorrow will be wet. A real spring week this week and then as it was last year - it becomes hot, all of a sudden!!

My tomato plants are more or less ready to be hardened off so I need to find a sheltered spot out of the wind. It's not too cold but still you need a warm jersey and jacket to go out. Summer weather for @fairygirl :stirpot: XX !!

It seems that we are having the same weather @PatE I hope the weather is clement in NZ for your friends. It seems to be where my family is living but that winter chill is in the air.

My lovely friend is coming from Montpellier this morning so I have taken some squid out of the freezer. I will marinate them in olive oil, lemon zest and some herbs to have "à la plancha" at lunchtime. I wonder how @Dordogne Damsel is getting on with her new beau. I'd better get a move on. Today is Saint Zita - one of the cavaliers - truly living up to his name today:

A la Saint Zita, le froid ne dura pas. (Good!! But I'm not a great fan of the Mediterranean
                  heat. )

Have a lovely weekend everyone - old and new members alike on this site.

                        Good morning one and all,

A brightish start here at the moment with a slight breeze and (I’ll whisper it), no rain - yet .

I find your news about your holiday plans and where you’ve been, very interesting @redstar . I’d love to go to Canada one day, but I think it’s unlikely, sadly. I’d like to do the train ride cross country. Never say never, though. We did have a few days in Boston and San Francisco one year when we did stop overs en route to and from New Zealand. I loved both cities, and was quite surprised at how compact I found San Francisco to be.

I hope you get the much needed rain @PatE. I’ll send you some of ours if you like :).

Well, I hope everyone has a good day/evening.

                          Morning all.

I find your posts interesting too @redstar. I've only been to America once. That was New York as the choir that OH sang with in France was invited to sing in Carnegie Hall. We stayed in OH's sister-in-law's flat near Columbia University. Her first husband had worked at the University. I found New York quite overwhelming, the tall buildings, the crowds, noise, business etc, but I loved Central Park.

Up and out this morning, but OH is limping a bit. Debating whether to attempt a short walk in case that eases his ankle up a bit, or head back home, and do the resting, ice and elevation instead. He is blaming it on climbing up and down the stepladder yesterday. Looks like the bedroom painting is going to be a long drawn out process. Really must consider finding a painter/ decorator but I know from friends in the village that the good ones are in great demand, up to 9 months wait!
It’s flipping cold here too, but the sun has come out, so at least it looks cheery. Woken at 7am by a female chaffinch banging into the window with her beak. Didn’t seem to be hurting itself at all, and looks like the same one that has been bashing the landing window for a few days now. I did clean those windows so shouldn’t be any insects or spiders on the glass.
There is one parking spot we use in town, where a male chaffinch regularly attacks everyone’s wing mirrors, but I assumed that was him defending his territory against what he thinks is another male.
Hope all have a good day, and keep warm.

@Tui34, my sis and BIL are in Bordeaux for the Rugby Six Nations match later. I am not sure where you are situated but it is also grey and pouring with rain there. Hope they took their waterproofs!

Hello all, just popped over from the GH to have a coffee and a warm up. No wonder nothing much is happening in there, it's very chilly. I'm potting on the Zinnias and Melons as roots are protruding from bottom of pots, otherwise everything else is at a standstill.
OH is playing with a drill so I shall go back to the GH where it's quieter!
Catch up with you all later.
