Just keep it in a sheltered site @Brenda - the green ones aren't as able to cope with more serious conditions -ie strong sun and wind, as the purples, and especially the dissectum types

 

I've just been to a car boot sale where I picked up this Lemon Balm for £3. Last week I got a collection of vintage tools (3 trowels and 2 hand forks) for £5, and a nice solid little obelisk for £8. The obelisk has already been approved of by one of my new clematis.

 

Thanks for the advice @fairygirl. I have already put it in the same bed that I have a couple of red Acers. The new one has got a 3ft Euonymus to the right of it but nothing sheltering it to the left. Fingers crossed that I haven’t made a mistake as I understand Acers don’t liked being moved.

 

Trotted off to Hill House Nursery, got three cacti, a Japanese Painted Fern and a Salvia. The Salvia had another salvia growing in the pot snag is there was no label.

 

New homes for my Aloes and Clivias. Originally in grey Wilko troughs. The three Aloes in one trough were getting a bit wobbly, my justification for purchasing. Then I thought the five Clivias might get jealous. A friend got gifted with one of the Clivias (the runt of the litter).

TK Maxx, not bargains of the century. Blues: 2 Either end £9.99 each, 2 in the middle £5.99. Wanted another blue but wasn't available so settled for the red. Red was listed as half price @ £7 but the cashier rung the tag that was inside the pot £3.99. Thought at the time something doesn't add up.

Nice heavy pots with drainage.

Shall have to ease off watering frequency, they dried of quick when housed together even in winter.

 

Nice to get a surprise though @NigelJ - but of course, you'll wait patiently for them to flower and - they'll both be the same!

Sorry - I just saw your post @Brenda . I'm sure your Acer will be fine. They aren't too bad when being moved - it's just that old thing of taking time to get as much root as possible and settling them into their new site again. However, it sounds like it'll have some decent enough protection, and should be quite well established by winter. If you're worried about wind while it's getting itself established, perhaps you could put up some basic shelter - canes and netting/fleece for example, as that will help filter any prevailing strong wind over the next 6 to 12 months. If you have any potted planting for over summer, and there's enough room nearby, you can even place those in the general area to help filter it.

Weight was the primary goal but the design and colour clinched it. Got lucky, TK Maxx can be a bit hit 'n' miss.

 

Found a lovely Fuchsia in a home-store. Couldn’t resist it. However the label only says Fuchsia and not the type!! Not even sure it’s a perennial. Oh well, we shall see. Unless there’s some Fuchsia experts on here!

They have different foliage and one is flowering, the other one was the one that caught my attention because it stood out from the other salvias in the glasshouse as the only one with that foliage. Will try and remember photo.

 

These arrived today 3x lily and 3 bareroot Iris ensata variegata cost about £8-9 free P+P . Lilys are good size and the bareroot look good to but for one which looks rather empty but another pack looks like its got two bareroots in it so happy enough.

 

Which varieties are they @Perki ? Sounds a good deal though

That'll hopefully be a nice surprise then @NigelJ. Will you be able to separate them easily, do you think?

 

The lilies are aubade think I'll put them in a pot today, the iris are far a bog area

 

I got one ensata [Kumo no obi] and one sibirica [Dreaming Yellow] for beside the pond last year. Hopefully they'll flower this year now that they're settled in. It's a gorgeous colour the I. e. variegata. I have I. chrysographes which is beautiful, if fleeting.
That lily looks very nice.

 

B&Q have reduced their summer bulbs to half price. I bough some pink ranunculus, and peony "Sarah Bernhardt" for £1.75 each.
