Hi, we are looking to grow a climber up a trellis that is in shade. Either jasmine or honeysuckle or any other flowering climber. We want to achieve about a 6ft high growth. Any suggestions please?:dh:

[IMG]... Hmm shade loving climbers that flower.. Quite a tall order... :hehe: sorry.. Well Tropeaolum or Chilean flame flower is a smasher & might do it as they like to grow in woodlands etc... The roots must be kept cool & moist on them though so perhaps cover them with a paving slab once you have it established, stand a pot on it if you like..
I have an ornamental Quince against a north facing wall here which gets next to no sun, but does well..
Others that might are:- Golden Hop........ Clematis Montana Elizabeth... or Japanese Honeysuckle.. That is all I can think of..

I love climbing hydrangeas and they are brilliant in the shade, but they do get pretty big and would soon cover and probably buckle a 6ft trellis do you think?
I agree with the suggestions of Chaenomeles and pyracantha trained as wall shrubs, winter jasmine, some clematis...alpina and macropetala types and if it's a sheltered spot, how about Berberidopsis corallina?
You could grow an evergreen such as Euonymus fortunei 'Silver Queen' up the trellis and then grow clematis etc too http://www.flickr.com/photos/julieparishruralgardener/3743056323/
