This is growing in a really inhospitable hot dry spot so I'd really like it to be a keeper. I'm not particularly particular but I suspect it's going to be one of those tall jobs with a few yellow flowers on top

It reminds me of Hogweed or a related species. If so it will have umbels of white flowers and grow very tall.

That'll be nice - I hope! When it first started to grow, I thought it was a Japanese anemone that I'd forgotten I'd planted. As it grew, it obviously wasn't.

I have a hogweed growing at the side of my patio that I was going to let survive - they are very popular with the pollinators. But I've just looked out of the window at it and realised it's going to get seriously in the way of my rotary clothes line, so it will have to go.

I have to crawl between a bay tree and a cherry plum to get near it, so it's perfectly safe :psnp:

While I agree that the pollinators love the umbels it will spread everywhere.

Smallish very full front garden. It'd have a job to spread. But I'm on to it now anyway:paladin:
So long as it behaves it can stay
