How are Brits perceived abroad?

    Also the retail and supermarket sector probably offered contracted hours unlike the hospitality sector. It's a know fact that the hospitality sector has the highest percentage of workers on zero hours. The UK is falling behind the rest of the world as the number of workers on zero contract hours continue to rise.

    I've never heard of anyone in Belgium or France being on a zero hours contract @gks but I think the legal framework for employment laws and contracts would make it difficult.

      I've just found this thread and, having read the first post, I was itching to respond as I live in Dordogne, France. However, @noisette47 and @Obelix-Vendée said just about everything on page 1 that I was going to say!

      The French here are friendly and some have told me that they like having the British here as we are friendly and appreciative of their country. However, it isn't easy to become close friends with the locals here and I've been told that too by French people from other areas of France.

      I haven't really come across loud-mouthed, rude or arrogant British people in Dordogne, unlike the Costas in Spain, where I saw quite a lot.
