This has popped up and a quick Google identifies it as Hedge Woundwort. Is my googling correct? And is it something to be concerned about? From what I’ve read it can spread quite vigorously underground and by seed. It’s a nice looking plant but I’m not sure I want something that’ll be a pain!

Looks like it, and yes it can be a vigorous spreader. I leave it in wilder areas, but remove it from more cultivated beds.

I have a few bits of it here and there, mainly in a cultivated bed against the house wall with a clematis and various other bits and pieces, and I keep it as the bees/hoverflies etc love it, but I pull it out from anywhere that isn't ideal. It comes out under the edges of the raised bed it's in.I think mine might actually be the other one though - Marsh woundwort. The leaves have longer stems on it and the flowers are paler.

Mine is just at the green stage - no flower buds yet.

It does spread but I find it easy to pull up. I let it grow through my main border, it doesn’t seem to smother anything just pops up through the gaps. The runners are not very deep underground or brittle.

It’s got a very distinctive smell when you brush the foliage. As @fairygirl said very popular with all the pollinators

Pretty, invasive spreader with long runners and a horrible smell. I'd get rid of it.

I hate the smell and it spreads like mad in OH's garden in Norfolk. Quite pretty when in flower but not otherwise. I pull it up, there are much prettier plants to have in your borders.
