      Good morning everyone.

Not so for @Obelix-Vendée Devasting news about Bonzo. So close to Rasta. You must be a heap. The gap will be enormous. You gave them the best life

Overcast here this morning, so after my bike/run, I did 45 minutes weeding silly little paspalum grass sprouting in the vegetable garden. Now it is raining, so restful afternoon

I hope you have a safe trip back to Blighty @Busy-Lizzie and the weather isn't too bad for the trip. We are having a funny early summer. How are your wasp stings @floralies Tiger Balm or vinegar helps to relieve the heat. Saint Antony is good at finding my keys @lizzie27 - maybe he is on holiday at the moment - he may help find you earring when he returns!!! I think your museum job sounds really interesting @RowlandsCastle You'll get the hang of it bit by bit.

I also, was glad to see Princess Kate attending The Trooping of the Colour yesterday. I hope she was feeling better and not too tired.

Enjoy the first day of the week everyone. There are four more coming up!!

Two days ago, I went across one of the fields nearby, to be met with the beginnings of blue flowers - flax.
Today, that occasional flower is now a field of colour.

I've not been in such a field of blue before.

Afternoon all. A lovely sunny day with a touch of warmth. OH is out washing the van ready for departure on Wed am. I've hinted that a vac inside wouldn't go amiss either  Will probably start packing it this pm.

@Obelix-Vendée - I was so sorry to read of your loss. Departed pets leave huge holes in our hearts. Thoughts are with you.

@Punkdoc - I can really empathise with the damage to your roses. The muntjac have been a real pain this year - much worse than previously. We hardly ever saw them and the damage was restricted to winter months. Now they're wandering around in 2's and 3's in broad daylight and the damage has been ongoing through spring.

I've been able to erect a temporary (and very ugly) barricade down the side of the house to deter them from entering the back garden (they could easily jump it if they could be @rsed). It has allowed the roses to put on a few inches a growth of growth and some buds over the last few weeks and the hardy geraniums finally have flowers. The front garden is still under attack but I can't secure that. Will look at a more permanent solution when we get back but it's a difficult problem to solve.

              Safe journey BL!

PS - If any of you are out for lunch / dinner and you see muntjac on the menu, do try it. Apparently it's delicious and you'll be helping with the cull of these destructive non-native animals.

So very sorry to hear that @Obelix-Vendée, my sympathies.

@Dovefromabove ,Glad to hear your MIL is doing well and coping with the treatment.

Hope you also get sunshine soon @Punkdoc, it really helps to lift the mood.

Good luck with your journey tomorrow @Busy-Lizzie, and with your later holiday plans.

We enjoyed our usual walk through the orchard and down the farm lane this morning. Temps were up to 16c so teeshirt weather at last. Might do a spot of light gardening after lunch, there's always some weeding to do. Looks like the first flush of the roses might be coming to an end, I'm doing plenty of deadheading every day.

Sorry folks, I posted before the previous 6 posts so mine looks out of sync.
I'm sorry about your roses @Punkdoc, so disappointing.

I know how you feel @Punkdoc. Our problem is roe deer. They are much prettier than muntjac but they have the same hankering for roses, other flowers too. OH has just put a higher strip of wire netting on the fences and I've put up an electric fence at the entrance end.

                          Monday. 75 degrees. 10:37AM

@RowlandsCastle , love that blue field.
@glosmike , yep, I get it. Lost my 2nd GSD about 8 years ago, second broken heart. never again. its tough.

When down at our airbnb, a deer tick got me, starting on the antibiotics for lyme disease. Lovely. I don't feel anything different. Good thing something said to look at my back, and there it was the bullseye. Was out on the deck staining railings etc. Lots of tall trees above, so probably dropped down. PITN.

Attached is a picture of a sunset from our dock, we have awesome sunsets every night there, of course as long as not cloudy etc.

Good afternoon all. The weather here is awful, got wet doing a little shopping and dog walking. One of the kind proprietors of one shop held the dog's lead in the doorway so he wouldn't get wet!
I'm sorry about Rasta, @Obelix-Vendée. It breaks my heart when they leave, but if I can manage I will always get another dog, because dog ownership is so rewarding.
A lovely chap I know in the village where I live told me today he lost his border collie recently aged 15. I remember him when he was a pup!
Gorgeous pics @RowlandsCastle, what a lovely 'sea' of blue.
@Busy-Lizzie, so too are your photos on the other thread. Thank you everyomne who make the effort to post them.
Well, I hope it stops raining sometime soon, it's so dispiriting.
Good news about your MIL, Dove.

Thanks to all who have sympathised about our losses. Both our dogs were rescues, Rasta a Wheaten terrier type aged 11 months in 2008 and Bonzo, a Labrador, at 3 yrs old in 2012. Both were depressed, terrified and skeletal when we got them but, with lots of TLC, turned out to be great characters, funny, playful, mischievous and loving.

They died at 17 and 15 respectively, 12 days apart, and they leave a huge hole in our lives.
