Replacing a Buddleia with and Acer

I am thinking of digging up the Buddleia in my front garden and planting in it's place the Acer Katsura which has been in a container for a couple of years. Are there likely to be any problems with this?

 

Buddleias are able to cope with wind, Acers like a sheltered spot, so it really depends on the exposure.

It wouldn't work in my front garden, that's for sure. Windy as downtown Chicago out there.

 

The pot with the acer has been living in the front garden for the last year anyway so the aspect for the plant won't really be any different. I'm just fed up of the buddleia and the acer is getting too big for it's pot.

 

Well, the buddleia is now in the green bin. Having a rest before planting the acer!
