Spotted this growing at Glendurgan Gardens, Cornwall.
I am pretty sure that it is Filipendula rubra, but the very large basal leaves have me a bit confused. Are they Filipendula rubra or something else?

Certainly looks like filipendula @Fof , although we only have the white one round here, so I've never seen the red one.
I wonder if the larger leaves are just due to conditions though. Often, foliage just becomes bigger, and it can be to help keep other plants from taking over the space too. As filipendulas like moisture, perhaps some are in a wetter spot too, and the foliage has had time to grow larger than normal. Some of the whites I see in ditches and field edges which are permanently wet, have larger foliage than the ones in more normal ground.

Those larger leaves look like Rodgersia podophylla, probably growing below the Meadow Sweet.

        Thanks Blackstart.
Will have to pop down again, soon, and have a rummage around, at ground level, and confirm that there are 2 different plants growing. It certainly looks like it.
If the worst comes to the worst, I might have to camp out until I can waylay the head gardener.:pathd::please:

Just had an email from the head gardener, and he has comfirmed that it is F. rubra 'Venusta', co-planted with a Rodgersia.

That's good you've had a positive ID @Fof. Did they mention the larger leaves and the reason for that, or is it another plant in there?
Looking again, I can see what @blackstart means by that, and the leaves do look more leathery, but I'm not terribly familiar with rodgersia, so I wouldn't be able to ID that accurately.

          Fairygirl (love the name )
The large leaves are those of the Rodgersia which is co-planted with the Filipendula

Apologies @Fof - I managed to miss that bit of your post somehow!
I'll blame it on my fried brain - or what's left of it :heehee:
