Most of you that grow plants or veg both from seed or plant plugs know just how easy it is to lose the markers of whats what and where it is more so if you don't jot down the details on paper like me.

So I came up with the idea of painting veg. markers on pebbles kindly given to me by one of my neighbours, the pebbles work really well as you can move them around your plot when you rotate your crops.

I have used gloss paint which weathers well and seems to do the trick real nice any colours can be used and it's a great way of using up the odd tins of gloss that most of us have knocking around.

Here are the latest ones no prizes for guessing what I'm growing!

    Thanx guys :luv:

I have to admit none of the guys down on the allotment have made a comment on the markers yet although once they see some of my other colourful ideas I'm sure they will shake their heads and tut among themselves but most of us girls do like pretty things don't we?

Woo if only you lived nearer to me sweetie you would be more than welcome to help yourself to my piles......of pebbles that is! Hel.xxx.

Hot on the heels of the pebble veg/plant markers here's another idea and very cheap to copy and yet the rewards are plenty!

Take a one of these boring venetian blinds plastic ones work great like the one below a light colour shade would be required.

Strip everything down (on the blind that is :D) and remove all the string that wraps itself around each blind slat it's not worthwhile saving this string, pull the thick cord through the slats as this can be of use something else...I'm sure you all can find a use for it.

You will then be left with just the plastic slats, cut each slat into workable plant tag pieces about 4 inch long or bigger if you prefer, then make a point to one edge so the tag can easily be pushed into your plant pots, trays etc.

To write on them use a good quality permanent marker pen like a 'Sharpie' and unlike most plant tags there's plenty of room have two lines on the tag for the plants name and type.

Here's mine below I used a 4ft wide blind and managed to get 527 tags from it I would have got even more but I wanted some longer ones.

I have to confess I did have to buy the blind for the job so I brought from a local car boot for the HUGE sum of 50p when I told the lady what I wanted it for the poor girl was confused to say the least.

Before I have always used recycled milk cartons for my plant labels but they are really flimsy compared to these.Hel.xxx.
