I was having problems with my speakers diamond ones, like a distorted noise on them so i decided yo buy some new ones yesterday at pc world, got logitech ones, brought them home plugged them in and guess what noise still there, so i checked the connections to my tower were they plug in and noise seeems to be coming from the connector on back of tower so i unplugged that and plugged it into the front of tower and its fine noise stopped, now does anyone know whats going on, is the tower on its way out, left speaker is working and cant hear noise from the secondary one.i have been into sound from start and turned the tuner speakers up still no joy.

I also bought a cordless desktop with a free mouse, got keyboard to work but the mouse i could not get to work so i plugged my other cordless one back in, i tried everything mouse no working.
any advice would be greatly appreciated

hi carl, the speakers are plugged into the main pc box the tower and thats were the noise seems to be coming from, when i went to plug the speakers into the the back of the tower it was crackling so i took it out and plugged it to the front of my tower it stopped for a while and just started again, it cant be the speakers as there brand new.
As for the mouse i did as you said and the cd is installed and it just wouldnt work the mouse, i already have a logitech mouse so im just using that one

    Hi Rosa.

I'm going to assume these are powered speakers (ie; so you plug them in to the mains) A few suggestions.

    1. Make sure all the different cables of your PC aren't wrapped around each other.

    2. Try plugging the speakers power supply into it's own plug socket rather than sharing a multi-way socket.

    3. Make sure the cable going into the sound card is in the "line-out" socket and not the "speaker-out", "powered-out" or "headphone-out". Powered speakers don't need additional power to run, where as things like headphone do need power.

Give those a try and let me know how you get on. If possible, can you tell me the model type of the sound card and speakers?

    Ant.

hi anthony, these speakers are powered by electricity plug point and a point to go into the tower, the noise seems to start from the tower, the pc power supply was into a multi way socket but i thought of that and put plug point to its own power point and still the same.
my speakers are logitech x-140 but this started to happen with my original diamond speakers since i have had over 3 years

just to let you know i disconnected the speakers and re-connected them got both speakers working now, but that noise is still there, sounds like morse code going on with a bit crackling, looks like i may have to take the box to a pc shop to let them look at it

    Rosa.

Do you have handset phones by any chance...they have a power cable to the base unit plus a lead to your BT socket? If you have this type of phone, if the base unit is near your computer and the phone is not in its cradle, you will get interference.
