'It's like sandpaper on your face': BBC reporter on Storm Darragh

Seeing broadcasts like that really make my blood boil. In one breath he's saying they are in a safe area, despite people being told to stay indoors. In the next he's saying there is debris flying around. On that basis it is not a safe area. I almost wish he'd been hit by debris or blown off his feet.
We all know what bad weather looks like. Technology allows for remote operated cameras so we don't need some idiot standing outside to tell us the obvious.

And now there's a glimmer of blue sky showing! Wasn't expecting that.

Overcast today, light breeze, some showers. Weeded a herb border at the allotment and trimmed them back a bit

I noticed a few members have posted weather reports but we have no idea where you are. Please would/could you place your area in your avatar box?

Heavy rain last evening and overnight. Today is grey with drizzle and the wind at the moment is almost non existent. It's due to pick up about now for a couple of hours although I doubt it will gain much strength. 6C/43F

Still wild here, the wind hasn't let up all day. I've been outside briefly a couple of times and had to hang on very firmly to the back door.
I had some replacement vertical blind slats delivered in the week and they were slightly too long, even though I'm sure I followed the website's measuring instructions exactly. Luckily I have a sewing machine and the perfect colour thread. I made good use of today shortening them all, hanging them and bagging up the mouldy, rotten old ones for disposal.

Still blowing a gale out there, had to brave the elements to pick up two pots that were about to roll into the road. Think some serious watering of pots will be needed when this all dies down.

Wind has really picked up here now in the last hour, really gusty.
                      Tomorrow doesn't look any better.

It's still horrendous here, my friend, about 7 miles away hasn't had electricity all day and it won't be back until mid day tomorrow :frown:
The wind has blown the roof off her garage - completely off, and water's coming down the road like a river :frown:
She lives half way up a mountain so it isn't surprising really :frown: (beautiful views but that's no good in a power cut)

The wind is back at 55mph and rain. It did quieten down when we went to the SM at midday. It's funny that our TV has been OK in the storm.

Saw quite a few birds on the lawn in all this bad weather - a green woody, a magpie, a pigeon and a squirrel too. The bird feeder needs topping up, but I will wait as the rain gets in and the seed goes mouldy. I will then give them all a treat - chopped apples, dried fruit and bread in addition to a fresh top up of sunflower hearts. Poor birds out there. They must get so tired clinging on to the trees and bushes.
