    Morning all,

We inherited a summerhouse when we moved in last year, it's not in the best of condition with quite a few pieces of timber (cedar) needing to be replaced but I thought I'd have a go given the price of a new one. Would I be better off going to the likes of Jewson's to try and source the timber or given that the pieces I require are of various dimensions would a timber merchant be a better option? Thanks very much & hope you all have a good day

Depends on the section that you require and if you want cedar.
Cedar could be a bit tricky to find unless you can find a shed manufacturer willing to sell you some in the correct section.
    Is it shiplap?

Pressure dipped softwood is much more available, and economical than cedar. Remember to apply clear wood preservative to any cut surfaces, the dipped timber will only be protected on the external surfaces to a (minimal) depth. A good variety of sizes are available from Jewson or Wickes, the latter selling shorter lengths as well.:

Thanks very much for your replies, they are much appreciated. Yes it is shiplap, made by Alton but it looks like it has never had a treatment applied other than what would have been on it when purchased. Various pieces need replacing, even the roof where the felt has come off and not been repaired. Even if I can track down the bits I require in Cedar it could well turn out to be costly so I may go with softwood and make sure it gets treated regularly

We had the same situation as 66. Contacted the company. We do not do not supply spare panels was their response. This was despite a neighbour telling us it had arrived in kit form. Warned the public of this companies attitude on a well known review site. Taken down after a week as the company made an official complaint about my comment which simply stated - beware this company does not supply spare panels. I was very surprised as I HAVE READ HORRENDOUS REVIEWS ON THIS SITE. Had to have the summer house replaced.
