A very good morning @Ante1 and all dropping by soon. Thank you @simone_in_wiltshire for your lovely comment. It is really my pleasure!
    Friday.jpg
@Obelix-Vendée I do hope that your bionic knees flex soon. I do have to say that 'titanium' sounds awesome! I haven't decided what I'm tackling today although the washing I left out overnight will need retrieving first. I finished the baby blanket I was knitting for our coffee/tea morning 'lady-in-waiting' last night. I can now get the sleeves of my jumper started.
My next door neighbours have finally named their new tiny person (born on December 2nd) after what seems to me to have been an excessively long time to debate it. She is now Heidi, which immediately brought back memories of reading Johanna Spyri's novel when I was very young myself.
    And now for breakfast!

Morning all. I’m hoping there’s no fog, frost or rain this morning for my travel to work. Just ordered a shop for tomorrow and having an extra cuppa before heading out.

That’s a memory too @Ladybird4 - I loved the book Heidi! Can almost recall the tune of the television version!

      Have a fab Friday all.

Good morning all! And welcome to you @Butterfly6

It isn't as cold this morning as it has been with only a light frosting on the decking. The bike ride shouldn't be too chilly - I returned yesterday with frozen toes and frozen fingers - very painful.

The sun came out in the afternoon, so I finished digging over the vegetable patch and now it looks spick 'n dandy! Ready for some horse manure. Then I decided I would clean around the hob area as I keep a spice rack there and it gets spatters!! Then with the nice hot water, I did the hanging utensils rod and knife holder - so I really went to town.

I loved the Heidi books too @Ladybird4 and enjoyed the TV series.

Stay safe. Stay warm folks and enjoy your Friday.

Thank you all for such a warm welcome :) and good morning!

Think it will be a slow start here today as I didn’t sleep well. No particular reason just one of those nights. I haven’t a lot I need to do today, luckily, so will just potter. We’re having an early supper out tonight at a local carvery with my daughter, her husband and our granddaughter (5). It’s a nice way to end the week and start the weekend. Poor daughter went flying on the ice last Friday and badly bruised her coccyx so am hoping she will be feeling more mobile and less sore.

Lots of birdsong this morning, which is very cheerful to hear.

I remember watching Heidi many moons ago, not sure I ever read the book although I was a real bookworm as a child.

Ouch ouch ouch @Butterfly6! Your poor daughter. I hope she has recovered enough to fully enjoy your supper today. Ice can be lethal!
I've brought in my washing - virtually dry - filled the bird feeders and looked at all the bulbs showing through. I noticed a snowdrop flower yesterday in the front garden so more to follow there. Both my witch hazels (yellow and bronze) are looking very nice too.

Good morning all. It's still a bit of a novelty, having a warm house after a week of multiple clothing layers and electric heaters, but I expect we'll soon have the confidence to put the fan heaters back in the loft!

Here in Ireland, farmers say that Spring begins in February. That's when the grass starts growing again in earnest - though our lawn needs cutting already! However, it'll have to wait, because the mower would be sinking in... meanwhile, we're admiring the first snowdrops and primroses. :spinning:

                Good morning all.

I was a child bookworm too. Loved Heidi.

I haven't found marmalade oranges yet so I may go out to look for them again today.

I'm glad the garden bin has just been emptied. The 2nd honeysuckle needs tackling.

                Looks rather grey outside.

That's early for grass to grow @Liriodendron. It's March in Dordogne. I read that grass doesn't grow under 13C. Is it very mild where you are?

Ocado and Abel&Cole seem to have them in stock @Busy-Lizzie. Although, of course, there a minimum order value (just £12 for Abel&Cole)

Good morning everyone! We are sitting in thick fog again! "They" say the sun should be shining - not here!
Pleased to here you are nice and toasty in doors again @Liriodendron. Our grass has been growing slowly all the time but it's so wet and boggy, no hope of cutting it for a long time yet.
I saw Alan Titchmarsh on TV this morning talking about the road works on the M25/A3 and how they are affecting Wisley. Less people visiting therefore less money for the RHS. Wisley was always a bad place to get in and out of, ever since i can remember.

It's certainly milder here than in the Pennines, where we used to be, @Busy-Lizzie ... fewer extremes of temperature, too. We've had minus 6 on 2 nights in the past five years, but it rarely dips below minus 5. We had one day 2 summers ago when it reached 30, but in a normal summer it doesn't often get hotter than 22 or 23. Or didn't in the past... we'll see, in the future!

Around here they say the grass grows at above 10C. Irish farmers say winter is November to January, spring February to April, summer May to July, autumn August to October.

Hello everyone. Bright, clear and sunny here but very cold after a clear night and a big fat orange moon hanging low as we returned from yoga last night. Like you @floralies, we've had sun forecast for a few days but had grey murk instead until today.

Our grass was all cut in December but needs cutting again now. It'll have to wait till things dry out and the heavy frosts have gone. Weeding and planting in the veggie plot will take priority tho. In Belgium, our farmer neighbours reckoned grass and winter wheat and barley grew once we got to 8C. Fertile soils and more moisture than here altho this last year has been the wettest since we moved here 8 years ago.

I've never had difficulties getting to Wisley tho it is less than direct. The car parks are usually heaving too. I'm a member and assume lots of other visitors are too but the RHS is missing a trick with its cafés. The last time I went the choice and quality were much reduced compared to previous visits so, another time, I'll take my own picnic.

Shopping done. Skirting boards bought. I'm off to paint again and then do the skirtings on Sunday. Day out at La Rochelle tomorrow. Still looking for a decent coat for Possum and we'll have lunch by the glorious harbour and come home via an Asiatic SM. Chinese NY on the 29th.

morning all. almost 10AM here. additional 2 inches of snow fell.
therapy soon today, wrist still stiff, movement slowly coming along. comparison to good hand still need to see more veins on back of hand thus still swollen some. Have to wear removable cast when "OUT and about" doctors orders. Therapist wants it off when home etc to continue movement exercises, and I am typing this with both hands.

trying on short for the trip, hey they all fit. Saturday will get serious of the pile I need to take.

My knees hurt these days also. getting old is nuts.

                              take care all.

Forgot to say @Ladybird4 the new titanium knees are brilliant. The problem is all the connections. On my newer knee, the extra wear and tear whilst taking the strain means my patellofemoral ligament and patellar tendon still complain but far less than they used to and getting better every day with regular physio and plenty of activity.

Other than those twinges and weaknesses, I am pain free and mobile. Full bend will come with time and exercise. I can definitely recommend having new knees.
