I`m not going to sign, I would like a broadcasting company not to be influenced by advertising, pay per view needs some serious consideration though.

    Sorry

There's actually no need for the BBC to be sacrificed in this. They get funds from heaps of other resources and the licenses contribute a very small amount to the pot anyway.

It's a bit like the NHS funding and our NI contributions - what you and I pay out over our lifetimes make a very tiny contribution to the true cost of our life-time's health care.

When either of a couple get to 75 years then TV licence is free
so we have had free TV for a year or two now.

I still think it is a lot of money for many to pay especially
thinking of my grandaughter who has a young family and I am
sure there are lots who find it a struggle to pay - and then there
are those that don't pay it at all (and hope not to get caught?)

Time it was abolished - why should we help to fund such huge
salaries to the likes of Mr Ross :(

Actually, another point - if you have a dish, you can access hundreds of channels that are totally free. Why should a person have to pay the BBC for watching those channels? Doesn't make sense and it's not fair.

    Signed :thmb:

I also heard on radio 2 the other day they are thinking of bringing in some sort of licence if you watch TV programmes on your PC through the IPlayer and watch again facilities for various other channels..... I'm assuming this is for poeple who dont have a licence, but how to prove it?? anyway that's another debate, we can only hope this petition might help......

    Not signed.

I prefer the Beeb to have more free reign and to avoid having to get money in from Adverts. yes they have other souces of funds, but the licence fee would have to be replaced by adverts, no way could they bring in enough cash elsewhere.

Its not just TV you get for it, i listen to local and national radio, Beeb stations are far better than the commercial ones and no ads.

The Beeb website has to be one of the best news and sport sites on the net.

Not all the cash goes to the BBC. They have a responsibility towards dealing with the digital switchover and some of the money goes to this. Funding also goes to Channel4 and i think some to Channel5. Compare the price and what you get for it to the dross n most of the satelight channels.

In regards TV on computers, this has always been the case, and really, its only fair, if your using the service then dont expect it for free. Look at how ITV has gone down the pan over the last 10 years with total advert money down and spread much more thinly.

At £12 a month i think its quite good value.

(and before you ask I dont work for the BBC)
