@Ante1, I echo @Penny_Forthem's wishes that your Great Aunt's funeral tomorrow goes as well as these occasions can and that lots of shared, happy memories are talked about amongst the family.
@Tui34, I do hope that you manage to shake off the bug and feel better soon.
@Butterfly6. I am a bit worried about you!. If you have seen the film Jurassic Park you may remember the poor little goat who was tethered in the T.Rex pen; how the children spotted he'd gone and then a back leg dropped onto the glass roof of their roving vehicle. Have you managed to escape being tied up?
Sorry that your food turned out to be so disappointing @Penny_Forthem. That sort of happening makes me very cross if I am being asked to pay good money for a mediocre meal.

I am going to sign out for today. Looking forward to watching the antics of the remaining apprentices. I'll catch up with you all tomorrow. I hope you all have pleasant evenings.

Made the 9 hour drive down to our other house in New Bern, NC. one hour late lunch stop in Exmore, Virginia, at this sweet old fashioned diner, been before, good food. Anyway, here we are and it stormed up, chilly, some ice hanging, some tree limbs in the woods crashed during the night. Our landscaper guy will have much fun. Today is Thursday, we are just relaxing. He did some wood cutting in the garage for a small project. I am loving starring at the river and watching the birds. Our main project is to finish staining the dock walkway, but if the weather is not better, we can't oh well. No reason to hurry home. Saturday have an invite to a party here. Take care all.

          Evening.

Stayed on in work today as very busy, but I am now off tomorrow and the weekend so happy days.

I hope everyone who is tired or under the weather is doing ok.

It may be possible to bring cholesterol down with plant sterols and diet so that might be worth a try.

Your Grandma duties sound really fun @Butterfly6 - what a treasure such times are.

Take care and sleep well all.

Hello everyone, I’m free! Thank you for your concern @lizzie27 @Ladybird4 and yes I remember that bit from Jurassic Park too. The dinosaur keeping me company is small and a fluffy blue and E assures me he is a vegetarian. It was actually quite nice been tied up for a while, I had a few moments peace and quiet whilst Grandpa was chased around the garden.

We had a lovely day, children are such fun at that age (5) and yes I do treasure the time we have we her @AuntyRach . When my two were little, I was a single mum working full time in quite a demanding job, looking back I didn’t always have the time and energy or headspace to just live and play in the moment as I can with E.

Hope everyone else has had a good day. Shame about your meal @Penny_Forthem

Hope you fell better soon @Tui34 and hope tomorrow goes well @Ante1

Good morning all. Sunny and calm here, and bit warmer. Thank you all for kind words, I appreciated that very much. Funeral is at 2pm, so I'll not have much time to get there after school. See you all later, and have a nice day!

It is very windy outside at the moment and I think I can see raindrops on the window. I'll know when Cricket comes in if his fur is wet or not. I hope that you all have a good day.

                  Good morning all.

Looks damp and gloomy outside but the BBC and the Met Office say the sun will come out and it will be 14C this afternoon.

I hope the funeral goes well @Ante1.

We are going to Walsingham Abbey to look at the snowdrops. There are carpets of them.

Not sure what we will do today. Forecast was for sunshine this morning and rain from lunchtime but the dry window has now shrunk to just an hour or two. Looks like imminent rain out of the window already :noidea:

Will hopefully squeeze in a walk around the local park. I may tackle a small pile of mending which is sitting on the study sofa, all simple stuff like loose buttons, fraying seams. There’s a new Charles Paris mystery on R4, with Bill Nighy, which will be a perfect accompaniment.

The weather lately had been so dismal, I’m running out of indoor jobs. I suppose the benefit is that all those ones that constantly fall to the bottom of the list get done.

A garden visit would be just the ticket @Busy-Lizzie . Typically, tomorrow when it’s forecast to be sunny, I’m working in the morning and we have an appointment in the afternoon. Getting a quote to replace our very draughty back door. Not an easy process as the house is listed so we have limited suppliers and will also have to get planning permission. It’s amazing how difficult it is to (a) get single glazed doors (and windows) (b) in atypical, irregular sizes and (c) someone who is willing to install them into a listed property.

Hope everyone has a good day x

Morning from a very breezy Wales. Our old girl was reluctant to go out in it.
Despite going out for lunch yesterday, I have been persuaded to go again with OH. He didn't have to do much persuading! We'll have to combine it with a trip to Diddy dee on the way back.
Which reminds me, Italian week starts on the 27th Feb.
We bought all the decorating paraphernalia 2 weeks ago and got side tracked (all too easily!) by going away and a new mattress. However, the caravan site opens on 1 March, so we are setting ourselves the goal of decorating next week. Once we start, it shouldn't take long.
Weather permitting, our first stay overnight at the van will be end of March.
@Tui34, is it the Mistral season in the south of France? An American friend's daughter is flying out to do a 2 week immersive French course and was warned about it.
                      Enjoy Walsingham @Busy-Lizzie

                        Good afternoon to everyone!

Rain forecast tomorrow and we have had a very dismal, grey week. The Mistral is a wind that comes down from the north or northwest and is usually bitter as it comes off the mountains @Penny_Forthem At the moment, we have a keen wind coming in off the sea called Le Marin - it is very humid. I can smell the sea which is about 4 kms away.

Funerals are sad @Ante1 but nearly 100 can only be happy to have lived that long. I am sure your great aunt will be remembered with good memories!

Thank you all for your kind wishes to get better. I feel a bit more chipper today, but have a super cold - which I think is normal - as we sound worse as we get better!!

I wish you all a pleasant end of the week. I might start knitting that" tank top" which has now turned into a spring cardy!! Hmmm

Hello. Everyone seems busy which is good.

Grey here and supposed to be very wet but it's been postponed for 12 hours to overnight rain. Yesterday was the first day in months that I walked down to see the chooks without squelching so we really don't need more rain just now.

Had a govt inspector to do the decennial visit to our septic tank and water cleaning system this morning. There appears to be a bit of blockage between the two water cleaning tanks so we need to get that checked but otherwise all is fine. Nice chatty man.

Weekly shop done once he left so we've only just had lunch. Hoping to confirm the geometry of my new feature to square the corners then mark the boundaries with string so OH can play, as and when. Sewing for me to finish the frock then maybe some seed sorting.

Hope the funeral goes well @Ante1 - lots of memories to share for someone that age.

Have fun everyone, especially if out to lunch or other visits.

                            Afternoon everyone.

Quiet day here - did a click n collect shop and a few jobs. Time to think about tonight’s meal… maybe something with the flatbreads I bought in Diddly-Dee…

Hoping to do a bit in the garden tomorrow, plus a visit to see my Aunty.

I hope everyone else has something to look forward too this weekend. A day without rain would suit me!

                              Good afternoon.
It’s been a very breezy but mild day today. My OH did the SM shop and I pottered about indoors as I seem to have developed the cold he had at the start of the week. Having said that, it doesn’t seem too bad, just my eyes seem to sting and feel a bit hot. I’m hoping that it will soon be on its way.
Dinner tonight is going to be mince beef pie with veg. Our local butcher makes them, and they are very good. A treat for me, as I don’t have it very often as I’m trying to keep saturated fat levels down.
More spring flowers opening up in the garden now, with some of the daffodils out and crocus, too, to keep the snowdrops and primulas company. I also spotted a couple of mini Iris in bud as well, in one of the pots, just showing blue tips, so they’ll be out in the next few days. Spring is certainly on its way now.

And me @AuntyRach! A wet and windy day here - typical just as I had to bus into town for a much needed haircut. 3 miles took an hour, as I just missed a bus by the skin of my teeth but also because there were treeworks right in the middle of the village. Temporary traffic lights were causing havoc. Took me 1 1/2 hours to get home as again just missed a bus as I couldn't get over the zebra crossing in time, most frustrating.
The good news is that I managed to find a lightweight white blouse with a frilled neckline for which I had been looking for ages. Needed one to wear under crew neck jumpers. Sleeves are too long of course as is the length, so some sewing adjustment needed but it was in the sale.
Heartened to find lots of 'tommy' crocuses have suddenly popped out all over the back garden and a few more in the front. Hope it's dry enough tomorrow to get out and do something - anything!

Have a good weekend everyone, whatever your plans.
