Mr Mole has broken cover and was running wild around my lawn this morning. He did about 50ft and when he found he couldn't get out at the bottom of the garden he sniffed out a mole hill he had previously made and quickly disappeared down the hole.

I could have picked him up, but thought about the consequences!

He has back feet like a rat and front "paws" like pink combs.

The lawn is covered with patches of lumpy light coloured grass, where he and his mates have tunnelled.

I rushed outside with my mobile did my best to photo this sighting.

Our current resident skunk has only one eye. We had another skunk a while back that also had only one eye, so I decided to google skunks with one eye. It seems that being sprayed by another skunk can cause it. Life is hard in skunk world, that surprised me as they are timid creatures.

"A skunk can lose an eye most commonly due to injuries sustained from fights with other animals, being hit by a car, or if it gets sprayed directly in the eye by another skunk, causing severe irritation and potential damage to the cornea, which could lead to vision loss and ultimately, the loss of the eye."

Little and large in the garden. The fat balls needed replacing so I put the old ones out on the lawn for any takers, wasn't long before the Herring Gull and Magpie helped themselves. The Goldcrest is still visiting at least once a day.

The frogs in our pond have been croaking away for the last couple of nights and I was so pleased to see the fruits of their labour this morning, a week later than last year.

He/ she is gorgeous! I had Moles at previous garden, but doubt I'll get any at new garden.

Last night, after an absence of several weeks, Bubba, our resident opossum, made an appearance. It looks like the winter has been kind to Bubba, as he is still rather Porky.
