@lizzie27, I’m the same with hats. I have at least three cluttering up the top of a wardrobe, just in case. I do love wearing them, but haven’t had the opportunity for years. I didn’t wear one for my daughters wedding, as it was all indoors ( in the Assembly Rooms in Bath) but I did wear one for my sons wedding in Bath Abbey. I did actually buy that hat in a charity shop! Probably time to send it and the others back there!
I gave up on paper shredders after wearing so many of them out. Also hated having to unstick the cutters when they got full of bits of paper. Instead, I bought an inexpensive chiminea from the garden centre and use that to burn the paperwork! Great fun!
I got an hour of gardening done, another pile of rhododendrons have hit the dust. They do so well there, I wonder if I should plant some better behaved azaleas on the bank, it would be nice to have some spring colour on there.
Glad the funeral went well, @Ladybird4, and the unexpected consolation of meeting some friends.

I don't get on with hats at all. Apart from the fact that they don't suit me, they don't sit still either as I have very smooth, straight hair and they just slide off.

Good day today with a committee meeting during which our increasingly unreliable secretary resigned on the grounds of ill health and age - she's 18 months younger than me - but will stay on the committee and help Pascale who will take over but has never used Word or Excel. Lots of stuff got thru and decisions made. The only downside is that our treasurer - a gem - is resigning too as she's not aging well - 3.5 yrs younger - and her husband has just come down with some serious health problems. She too is happy to stay on and guide a replacement when we find one.

Neither one is a gardener and neither is keen on lots of fruit and veg. There's a desperately sad moral in there somewhere and I feel very sad for both.

It's been wet again and will be wet tonight and Wednesday night but dry after that. I'm gearing up for maybe getting some gardening done over the weekend or next week.

Loads of posts on here today and I've read them all but won't try and comment other than to say have a lovely evening all and let's hope for better weather all round.

A very good morning one and all. As for last night, we were well and truly beaten - last match of the season - but still had an enjoyable time. We have one more gathering in a fortnight's time for the prize presentation - always a good night as they lay on a fabulous buffet. It was absolutely hammering down as we drove home. All good wishes to @Busy-Lizzie's OH who celebrates his birthday today.

Good morning @Ladybird4 and all to follow. Rain is drizzling and it's very grey outside. My order of seed potatoes and onions arrived at GC, and after school I'll go to collect them. Now I'm completely ready for the new season. It's time to go, so wish you all a lovely day and see you later.

Have a great day @Ante1. I am definitely getting a Spring like feeling. Just a heads up for anyone interested. February 28th - clear skies permitting - just after sunset, will be the time to see all the planets in alignment. I'm looking forward to that chance.

              Good morning all!!

Glad you got through the funeral @Ladybird4 Unfortunately we meet up with those long lost people that we haven't seen for years!

Happy Birthday to your OH @Busy-Lizzie I imagine you will mark the day!!

Grey and dismal here. No wind No rain forecast for today. Not a chance to see the planet alignment @Ladybird4 - rather cloudy. Some tidying in the garden this afternoon - raking leaves and I cut back a Laurel (Oleander) - there are three which are rather raggy and have never been clipped. I can be a bit ruthless at times - have to think of the birds. Maybe burning some old papers and documents today. How do I get rid of old x-rays? Any tips?

Knitting positive yesterday because I only did a few rows of plain knitting!! Will do a pattern today.

I did Worldly yesterday @Fourmerkland and go it in one - as I suppose a lot did. It's a country I visit often as my brother lives there!! Did Wordle too - not so good - in 5!!

I'm not totally convinced that I will have a clear night either but we've got a few days yet @Tui34 so fingers crossed. How is the 'sorting out' going? I have a super powerful shredder that would sort out x-rays - it does shred cardboard, CD's and old credit/debit cards also. All shredded paper goes in one of my compost bins and any other non-compostable stuff goes in the general waste bin.

                  Good morning all.

Thank you @Ladybird4 and @Tui34. I am taking OH out to our favourite gastropub for his birthday lunch today. We will drop his car off at the garage for it's MOT on the way.

I have four children so I have four wedding hats, but I hate wearing hats. I have thick hair so they don't sit properly and they make my head hot. I don't think they suit me either.

Happy birthday to your OH, @Busy-Lizzie, enjoy your lunch out.
I would have thought x Ray films would burn, or at least scorch up enough to be unreadable. I’d cut the name / ID number bit off anyway and chop up for separate disposal.

The sun is out this morning, so we have headed out, coffee, pastry and a walk. Maybe a little gardening later, but my back is a bit sore after yesterdays effort with the mattock, followed by helping to clean the car ( OH rinses all the muck off, I do the washing bit, then he does the final rinsing) I think washing the wheels was what annoyed my back the most.

Very annoyed with the GP surgery. I had my thyroid check and a supposedly MOT on Wednesday, nurse happy with everything at the visit, including my BP. See me again in a year. All the blood tests came back normal, apart from a borderline cholesterol result, and I have already been offered statins. However I’ve now been sent an MOT appointment for a months time, for what looks like a repeat of the blood tests, and a request for a urine sample. I took one with me on Wednesday, but the nurse said it wasn’t needed! I’ve been in touch with the surgery to ask if this was a mistake, and told that no, this is a separate protocol based on my blood pressure, with different blood tests. I’m not sure there is anything left I wasn’t tested for last week. I’m now wondering whether this is being driven by the surgery being able to claim an extra fee. I’m probably being cynical!
Anyway, very tiresome as I need to take out some travel insurance next week before I pay the balance on our cruise holiday in May. I was very pleased on Wednesday to be told I didn’t need to be seen for a year! Grumble, grumble.
At least the sun is shining, and I could have a lot worse things to worry about. Hope others are also seeing a bit of brightness today.

It was lovely and sunny when I got up, but it's now clouded over.
I have promised myself an afternoon at art, so I need to get my kit together. I'm doing moody skies, so there's plenty of inspiration for those, today!
Happy birthday to your OH @Busy-Lizzie and enjoy the meal.

I am interested in what you have had to say @Ergates. I received a text telling me that I would be having a telephone consultation on March 10th. Now I do have one of these annually and I had one last November so I am not sure why it has moved to March. Unless they thought I was going to pop my clogs before this November
I've been across to see Jack and taken him some cake from Sunday. I was a bit too busy to get across yesterday. He was on his Revitive gizmo so he asked me to get his hearing aid out of the bedroom. This certainly helped with the conversation! Still nothing from the Boiler engineer. I think I'll just offer it to one of the other interested parties. Its all such a faff!

@Ladybird4, OH was just saying to me that he was glad he didn’t have to think about his annual check, as it isn’t due till May (our practice likes to do these in your birthday month)
Not an hour later, he got a text from the surgery asking him to submit some BP readings! He is very cross, he hates anything medical, and even thinking about it puts his BP up, let alone his white coat syndrome. I wonder if there is some new initiative to be complied with, and the practice is having a blitz on any likely customers?
I’ve just collected a new BP monitor, which I shall put through its paces. So far, it’s a darn sight more comfortable than the old one!

Late signing in so I'll just wish your OH a happy birthday @Busy-Lizzie 's OH and I hope the lunch lived up to expectations.

Cloudy here with occasional blue bits so unlikely to see the planets but will try anyway. Just pottering this afternoon then dance class this evening. Nice to have a quiet day after yesterday's emotional bits.

@Tui34 we don't shred anything. Personal documents get filed or torn up and then go to the paper container at the dump. Brown cardboard goes to the garden for weed control or composting. Coloured or printed cardboard goes to the dump. We keep X-rays - handy when getting a new GP or consultant who doesn't personally know our history - but very old ones that have been superceded make fine templates for craft projects.

Jack is lucky in his neighbour @Ladybird4

@Ergates, there is definitely something 'X-Files' going on here methinks. I do similar with brown cardboard @Obelix-Vendée and I love it when I get big boxes as the packaging makes an excellent weed suppressor (and standing platform) near my compost bins. I finally got all my tomatoes sown and some cat grass for Cricket.
