Well done on getting your tomatoes sown @Ladybird4 - what variety did you go for?
I've had a most relaxing afternoon painting moody clouds. I like what I've done enough to want to carry on.
These GPs seem to be a law unto themselves. I called in to mine last October, as I was due bloods, review etc. 'No, you're not', said the receptionist. She was adamant! So I haven't had a review since Oct 23.

We had a lovely lunch at The Fox and Goose. Not many people there as they were short staffed, gone to something, hope it wasn't a funeral. Website wasn't taking bookings but when I said it was Cedric's birthday on the booking page they contacted me and invited us. The Menu had "Happy Birthday Cedric" printed on it and there was a candle on his chocolate mousse.

        Afternoon folks,

Glad you enjoyed Cedric's birthday lunch @Busy-Lizzie.

I thought that once you were over a certain age, you were supposed to have an annual MOT?
If you're eligible @Penny-Forthem I'd contact the surgery again and insist. My MOT has been postponed from April until July, as you say, it's now in your birthday month - I wonder why?

I had my consultation with my lovely dentist this morning and after taking a very deep breath when I saw the estimated cost of the new crowns, goodness me...... am booked in for Friday!!! Decided to go for it before I lose my nerve. He took some X rays and photos, my teeth are an awful mess as I was born with a misaligned jaw and my upper teeth close behind my lower one. I also found out that when the original crowns were done, I apparently had root canal work and two posts put in, I don't remember that at all! It was about 40 years ago I suppose. I do remember sitting in the chair for about four hours.

I managed to do some gardening after lunch, hacked a big hosta using an old bread knife out of its pot and split it into 4 or 5 pieces. Potted one bit back into it's original pot and had to leave the others until tomorrow as I ran out of oomph.

Hope our new shredder is as good as yours @Ladybird4.

I did an hour and a half in the garden! Nearly became a cropper trying to hack out a stubborn rhododendron root with the big mattock on a near vertical slope, but did a decent job and kept my balance. I must find my gardening tool belt / pouch thingy, very wary about carrying the secateurs in the pocket of my fleece. Not a good idea. Always worry when watching westerns or cop shows, when they stick their guns into the waistband of their trousers, aimed right at their ‘vulnerable’ bits!
Just had a fake pie for dinner. I cooked a square of bought puff pastry in the air fryer, and heated up some frozen home made beef in red wine in the microwave. OH says he is awarding me a score of 10 out of 10, and I am now our official pie supplier! No more sneaking home a bought version when I’m feeling lazy, I suppose.
Can’t believe it is getting on for 6pm and still daylight.
Good luck for Friday, @lizzie27, it’ll be great to get them done. Take a picture of your smile, so you can compare your new look! ( and don’t go too white a la Simon Cowell!)

            Evening all.

I was just reading about the planet parade @Ladybird4. I put a link on weather thread.

            Happy Birthday @Busy-Lizzie ’s husband.

Bread knife is so useful for gardening @lizzie27, I had one in the shed for dividing jobs.

I hope everyone is doing ok. It’s a feet-up and TV night for me.

Just been outside, and identified Mars, Venus and Jupiter. Very exciting, looked at Mars through the binoculars and it definitely has a reddish tinge.

I have just gone for my favourite 'Gardeners Delight' @Penny_Forthem - I know you have sown some of them too. It is always reliable for me and I grow plants for three of my friends. After my disaster with the mini cukes last year I'm not bothering with them again. Why bother when I can get them in 'sco and they are always delish?
@lizzie27, just go for it. My bestie had her's done before her son's wedding 10 years ago and it cost her nearly £4K then. That cost made my eyes water! They look good though and she is happy which is what counts. I think it might have been a gardener on GW who recommended using a bread knife to separate tought clusters of plants to rejuvenate them.
Thanks for the info @AuntyRach, I'll go and take a look.

That is a good link @Ergates. I have had the SkyView App on my phone for years. I love spotting the constellations. I remember introducing my great nieces and nephews to the night sky.

                          Not my link, @Ladybird4. I think it’s @AuntyRach?
I think I’ll only be able to see a few of the lineup, as we are on the side of a hill and anything near the horizon is hidden from view. However, I’m just pleased to be able to identify a few heavenly bodies! I’ve always been keen on ‘space’. I remember as a young child, my dear Mum, bless her, setting her alarm to wake me in the middle of the night to see a comet. Anyone remember the Kemlo books about the children raised in space? Used to read all those!
I thought we had quite a good day today, although my good mood was very slightly dented when I realised that it was bin day and I hadn’t put the bin out. Another three weeks till the next collection. Luckily, we generate more recycling than rubbish, the bin is less than half full so I’ll have plenty of room to cope.

Good morning @Ante1. Excellent news for we tea drinkers. A study has discovered that tea - even in tea bags - extracts harmful heavy metal ions from the water, thus keeping drinkers safer from strokes and dementia amongst other illnesses. It has to be brewed for at least 3 minutes though. Weak tea is not useful. I am so glad I like 'builders' tea. This is how strong tea is described here @Ante1.
