It tipped with rain today so plans were changed. I went to the hairdresser's, it usually rains when I come out of there. Then OH wanted to go to Wymondham as he'd ordered something from the hardware shop there so we did the weekly shop in Waitrose.

A very good morning everyone. Well the meeting last night was pretty much as expected so least said about that the better. I'm waiting now for an Ocado delivery before I nip out to see my Bestie. It was my least favourite conditions for driving in last night - dark and lashing down with rain but at least the rain had ceased on the return journey

Work again today but my TTD list for when I get in the garden tomorrow is growing rapidly. Glorious sunshine at the moment and the same forecast for the next 3-4days, unbelievable!

The crocus are all wide open and looking glorious and there’s a feeling of spring in the air.

Right, must get on. Have a good day everyone

                Good morning all.

Not sunny in south Norfolk, grey sky and it still looks wet after yesterday's rain.

OH wanted to pick up the key for the new window lock from the hardware shop in Wymondham yesterday, someone forgot to put it in the packet, so we did the shopping in Waitrose. We took the country route there, mistake after all the rain, full of mud and puddles and potholes under the puddles.

Today we are going to meet friends from our village in the pub up the road for lunch. They have just sold their house in France.

The sun is out ( but it is also flipping cold) We have headed up to the Donkeys, sitting in the cafe with the sun streaming in through the windows beside us. We have both had to take our cardigans off! Too muddy on the walks here, so we will head down to the seafront after breakfast, and walk on the prom for an hour.
I do sympathise re the roads, @Busy-Lizzie, most of our local routes are fairly narrow, and it’s particularly bad after rain when it’s hard to see the numerous potholes. Luckily we know where most of them are, so a few stretches of road have to be negotiated at very slow speed in case there is oncoming traffic where we need to pull out. At least half term is over here. It’s very obvious who the non local drivers are ( apart from the top boxes on their cars) They do tend to drive too fast and don’t realise what the passing places are for until they’ve shot by and caused a snarl up. Not too good at reversing either.
I shall do another session in the garden later. The pile for the green bin is growing nicely, and I’m getting more confident about tackling the sections I thought would be impossible to reach. Now getting excited at the prospect of actually adding some shrubs rather than just continually removing things. I wonder if some small slow growing azaleas would work on the slope. Anything rhododendron family does well in our garden, loads of leaf mould, and we could do with some spring and summer colour at the back of the house. Maybe a camellia! Although they all rapidly grow into big trees here!

Morning all, we have sunshine too but as you say @Ergates, OH said it was cold when he went out. The flood in the farm lane has gone down but is very muddy so I won't venture that way tomorrow. I've just whizzed round the house having a quick tidy up before the cleaners arrive which they've just done. They do keep me motivated to keep things tidy!

I've just put the third coat of varnish onto the handrail and provided it's dry enough by the afternoon, OH says he will screw it onto the posts by the new steps for me. He's much better at being accurate with placement and measurements than me and I find the big drill is getting too heavy to hold. Hoping to do some pottering around in the garden after that. I think the perennials are beginning to emerge so need to finish off the cutting back.

I don't mind driving in heavy rain @Ladybird4 although on the motorway it's not nice but don't do it at night any more.

                    Have a good day everyone.

Sunny here today but there's a naughty north easterly making it feel cold. Let's hope it's a drying wind as it's very soggy out there.

Nothing planned for today so just some pottering in store till it's time to go to yoga class. OH is outside pulling brambles from the lane side of our hedge.

I'd be inclined to let that varnish set for at least 24 hours @lizzie27, if not 48.

Non local drivers are a menace here too @Ergates and the Parisian contingent are on half term till this weekend. The French stagger school hols into 3 zones. Everyone has the same Xmas and summer hols but Halloween, Carnaval and Easter are movable feasts so this year, Easter hols are for 2 weeks starting from April 5th and ending May 4th, depending on your zone. Spreads the tourists out which is, I suppose, good if you own a holiday let or café and so on.

I hope everyone gets some sun at some point today.

It's dry here, but still cool.
                        How was the brisket, @Obelix-Vendée?
We've prepped the downstairs loo, ready to paint. Typically, I'd hope it would rain when we do it. Now I'm torn between painting and garden! Still, it's not a big area and it will be worth it when done.
                        Better get started!

The sauce was good @Penny_Forthem but the beef was no better than stewed in terms of texture and flavour so if I see any again I'll have a go at pastrami. I did like the experimental flatbreads made with gram/chickpea flour.

My next painting (indoors) project is the landing but it can wait now till late autumn or winter tho I might do odd bits of prep on wet days when nothing else else is planned. I need to steam the walls to get rid of glue from the wallpaper we stripped and take down curtain poles and fill their holes.

We've also sprung a wee leak in the water inlet pipe in the annex so, once that's fixed and the plasterboard wall dries out, I'll have that to paint too.

Hi everyone, we've been away for a long weekend, we got back Tuesday eve, but as of yesterday we have painters in doing hall and stairs. It's the sort of thing I used to do myself but with that long drop in the stair well and 12 doors to paint, we decided to get someone in. Walls and ceilings have had 2 coats, woodwork all undercoated. They are OK but not great. As my wife says though, we won't be sitting looking at it, only passing through. At least the weather is dry today so doors are open.
                              Need to get gardening.

Evening folks. How lovely to be able to have a cuppa outside after work! Jacket on, but still.

Plenty of DIY, decorating and gardening going on. It seems we are all coming out of our hibernation at last! Take it easy people!

Early tea and early night in order here.
