        Braised chicken thighs

Thighs sprinkled with a mix of salt, msg, baking powder this morning, browned off then cooked in the oven on a sauce of leeks, garlic, porcini mushrooms, stock, passata and chilli. Served with rice. Keeping the skin above the sauce makes super crispy, especially if it's salted and left to air dry in the fridge for a good few hours.

Salmon trout fillet baked on a bed of pre-roasted pumpkin and red onions mixed with Thai basil, chilli, coconut milk and mini clams. Served with rice and spring onions. Yum.

Our farm shop that is much less romantic it sounds as they just get things from wholesales, had fresh green peppercorns.

All pickled now in portion size jars and some garlic got pickled as well with the leftover vinegar liquid.

Now I just need to find decently prices beef, my soul requires pepper steaks with chips! :wub2:

Picked up a pork loin a couple of days ago and cooked it in the water bath sous vide this morning, so will slice some of that for tonight as cold cuts. Not sure what else to have with it though...

We don’t eat meat and neither of us has a big appetite, so a normal evening meal might be cheese on toast with a salad followed by a banana (one each!). Tonight we are splashing out as I have just had a delivery of fresh pasta, so it will be fresh fusilli with a lemon butter sauce and a salad of cherry tomatoes, avocado, sweet mini peppers, cucumber and lettuce. And a ridiculously cheap fresh pineapple from Sainsbury’s (£1) to follow. Let joy be unconfined!

The pasta is made by a company in London called La Tua and they hand make it to order and ship it express to your door. The best fresh pasta I have ever tasted. (Other fresh pasta companies are available :))
