I take on board what you say Pete, but it was about the race issue hand in hand with the education system.

The recent influx of immigrants, and I do accept there has been one, has been by far mostly Eastern European-white not black.

I understood it to be about skin colour rather than race.

The issue of religouse schools is different, as is the debate over private education.

Personally I dont have any issues with either but selection of children by race and skin colur is a different kettle of fish.

Would over zealous use of tanning products widen my children's choice of school, in the same way that pretending to go to church gets you into denominational schools ?

    How about...

    Obese children only school ?
    Ginger haired only schools ?
    Gay only schools ?
My dads mum was 1/2 Scottish schools ?
My dads white but my mum is black so I can only do Mondays and Fridays Schools ?

    :idea::confsd::roll::rolleyes::doh::help:

I feel that if I moved to another country I should abide with there way of living. For example:- If I move to India, coz Im female, I'm expected to cover my arms. I should respect their countries wishes. Maybe i'm old fashioned and things have moved on. Just my opinion at the end of the day. 02

A very good idea, but not one that can be accepted in muticultural Britain I'm afraid.

Problem is O2, you have hit the nail squarely and firmly on the head:thumb:

The Black schools "thing" in my opinion, tends to put the blame for black crime firmly on white education.
However, before the influx, things were nowhere near as bad as they are now.

I tend to think most East Europeans fit into the migrant workers category, rather than immigrants.

IMO we should just have 2 types of schools for primary and secondary education:

Private (fee paying) and Public (normal garden variety coonsil skool)

no colour or religious divide, you attend whether you are pink with blue spots or worship jediism.

they have combined 2 of our primary schools in scotland, 1 non dom the other rc, the playground is segregated and neither is allowed into the others area.........

I know slightly off topic ...sorry

    Pal-that`s idealistic and short-sighted.

I want my children in a Catholic school because they will support the Catholic Faith eg following sacraments, weekly church attendances, in depth Religious lessons etc. They are in general stricter schools and in my area they are far in front of other schools as far as examination results.

My children are also well balanced and caring individuals, and about as mature as 6, 12 and 14 yrs old can be.

If a non Catholic does not understand my reasons for this then why does a white person understand a black persons feelings about it. If black people want it, and the funding is available and it abides by all the necessary regulations, then why not really?

Now it`s my turn to ask why.

If people want a school that shows particular empathy towards particular wishes then why not?
