    Hello @Jiffy

To change the DNS addresses in Windows 10 /11 through the Settings app, use these steps:

    • Open Settings.
    • Click on Network & Internet.
    • Click on Ethernet.
    • Select the connection that connects Windows 10 /11 to the network.
    • Click the Edit button under the "IP settings" section.
    • Use the "Edit IP settings" drop-down menu and select the Manual option.
    • Turn on the IPv4 toggle switch.
    • Enter the Primary DNS address under the "Preferred DNS server" section.

      Googles Primary DNS Server: 8.8.8.8
    • Enter the Secondary DNS address under the "Alternate DNS server" section.

      Googles Secondary DNS Server: 8.8.4.4

    • Click the Save button.
    • Restart the device.
After you complete the steps, you should now be able to connect to the internet using the new DNS Servers.

A Restart may be necessary to regain an IP address configuration for the device.

I am using the Google DNS Servers above but any Public DNS Servers can be used, Googles DNS Servers are just easy to remember.

I use Windows 11 so the above is from Memory.

I Hope the above makes sense, however, if you have any Questions then.....

    Kevin

Good information Kevin. I had assumed we were all stuck with the DNS provided by our broadband supplier. Well worth trying for those still suffering.

      Hello @Jiffy

There is not really anything that you can do wrong.

If you feel as though you have made a Mistake, simply Reverse the Changes by Selecting Automatic rather that Manual in Step 6 above.

I sometimes fail to realise that not everyone is as comfortable with Technology as I am.

Being Autistic, Technology I understand, People not so much :)

      I Hope this Helps

      Kevin

Still slow on my ipad, feel certain that the Apple security update a couple of weeks ago is to blame.

I've found the problem to be very intermittent. Sometimes no problem at all, sometimes I just give up, sometimes clicking a couple of times takes me through. I also have problems posting where it's necessary to click 'Post Reply' several times.
