Not much today, but earlier in the week I planted 260 native hedging plants, so I thought I deserved a rest day! (One 25+ metre long hedge, infilling gaps in an existing hedge, and the spares/leftover plants planted in a spare corner, in case we have some failures.

Before work, I repotted that young rose that had been left at my doorstep.

I was also hoping to do some planting during my lunch break, but the skies opened.

Now that the rose had been repotted, I am thinking of leaving the original pot with a little thank you card on the pavement outside the house, for the mystery person to take

They will likely grow but unlikely to divide into cloves due to the late planting. Therefore utilise as scapes before they go to flower/seed

Thinned out the leeks I sowed in the propagates a few week back ,transferred some crocus that had grown in the compost corner. Tomatoes coming through also capsicum and aubergine which I had sown three week ago.
We have a new dog from rescue he was found collapsed in a yard in the hot weather so now trying to convince him not to dig in the one border I managed to weed in October . :love30:

So for now a change I'm checking up again on what greenhouse seed of succulents and tropical plants can be down in the green house.I know they will take yonks to make plants so hoping by the time I've trained our man's best friend that seeds will have germinate and even the sign of a true leaf.

Any advice out their for growing bulbs from seed :please:
            ?
One can always hope and cross me fingerss!!!!!

Ok, I felt guilty typing that, so I’ve lifted some plants that will be bulldozed later this year (French tarragon, early broad leafed snowdrop, common snowdrop, wild primroses), and replanted them where they will hopefully be safe. I’ve also had a go at lifting one of the Yorkstone pavers that is in a “bulldoze” area, and established that they are moveable!

Some spare primroses at the gate, in case anyone wants them…

I was going to do some mowing but changed it to doing pressure washing. 2.5 hours of that, only got a fraction of it done, and I'm aching and worn out. This age thing is no joke. :old: :heehee:

I may continue tomorrow if I'm up to it but I'm going out in the morning to fill the car with well rotted horse manure (hopefully in bags ) as a friend has tons (literally) of it. The trouble with that is that I have to dig it out and fill the bags. Maybe I shouldn't have done today's work .

Had a little potter out there, doing thinking rather than actual gardening. :) Noticed the self-seedlings from my white double hellebore are developing flowers that are single and pink! I only have white and native hellebores, so cross-pollination seems unlikely, but I think I did read somewhere they don’t come true from seed.

Started cutting a privet hedge hard back for an elderly relative - it needed long handled loppers and reciprocating saw!
Came home to bimble a bit in the greenhouse. Emptied the pot of my sinningia which had produced masses of tubers. What to do with them all?

My Sinningia tubiflora hasn't really died down this last winter, I need to tip mine out and repot, I might try some tubers outside as some people claim hardy down to -5°C. Give them a mulch and see if they comed back the following year.
This afternoon I was in the greenhouse sowing a lot of seeds some will stay in the greenhouse to germinate, others have been moved to the propagator. More to sow tomorrow.

That Sinningia does seem to multiply rapidly.
I dried mine right off and cut back in the garage for the winter, I tried some outside last winter in a not particularly good position to be honest and they rotted.

The way they reproduce suggests to me they could be invasive in the right conditions.
