Just popping in to say the mention of Paddy McGinty's goat has started what I believe is known as an ear worm @Ergates  .

I could sing the whole song from beginning to end thanks to my purchase of Mr Doonican's greatest hits LP. It looked somewhat incongruous next to my Led Zeppelin and Status Quo records, but I loved his voice.

So sorry about the ear worm, @AnniD! I’ve had one for days, after OH showed me some videos of kittens ‘singing’ Korean pop songs. Quite amusing, but now I’m stuck with the tune in my head.

No sun this morning, but it’s bright and dry, so I’m planning some gardening. Apart from a few stragglers on the bit of bank that I’ve cleared, I’m not doing any more major work on there, until after bird nesting season. However, the gaultheria has been spreading across the path, so I will concentrate on that instead.

OH has painting he wants to finish before downing tools for an afternoon of rugby. I have some paperwork to do, so I’ll save that for then. I astounded myself yesterday, I dragged myself off the sofa at about 6.30pm to pay a bill, and ended up renewing the AA membership, re-taxing the car, paying two bills and organising two ISAs. My brain must have been working overtime! I did sleep like a log afterwards, probably because I had got rid of a good chunk of my financial to do list. A stint in the fresh air today will help to further clear my mind of mental ‘clutter’.
Have a good day, everyone, enjoy the singing @Liriodendron. Don’t overdo it, @Ante1.
Hope @AuntyRach has a relatively calm day at work.

G'day everyone. Our day started with rain, despite the dry forecast so I stayed in bed reading while OH went off to play golf. More rain later and all tomorrow which will settle in the newly planted shallots and garlic. That bed is not full so I've pegged down some old netting to keep off the chooks but let rain in.

Have a lovely day everyone, whatever you're doing and wherever you are.

I have deposited him at his Bushcraft and done an hour's painting in the downstairs loo. It should have been finished by now, but we were lured to the van by the fine weather! I didn't want to climb steps while I'm alone in the house, so I've left the high bits for Him. I'm kind like that!
Just watching a Goldfinch on the Nyjer seeds. Haven't seen one for a while.

Heads up for anyone with a Nectar card - been reading about 'stolen points'. I don't have many as there are no decent S'bugs round here, but the card is linked to Ebay, Argos etc. They have beefed up their security and you now have the option to lock your points, until such time as you want to spend them.

Time for a quick potter in the g'house before I go and collect him.

            Good afternoon,

A gorgeous day here today, so I’ve been out in the garden again doing a bit of weeding (pesky dandelions amongst other things I don’t want - they always seem to seed themselves in the most difficult to access places), and a bit of light pruning. I did the bedding too, and that is drying well outside. Time for a coffee soon and a read of my book.

I’ve heard about that problem with nectar points @Penny_Forthem. I don’t have one myself, but it’s good to warn people about it.

Belated birthday wishes to you @Liriodendron. I hope you enjoyed your day. You too, @Ergates. :birthday:

Good afternoon everyone, early start, we'll early for us, eye clinic, a rearranged appointment (by them not me). The only advantage was the hospital car park was 1/2 empty and I was seen very promptly so we were back home by 10:15. Have been in the garden since, can't do much else anyway as the drops they put in take about 4hrs to wear off.
At least it's warm and dry.
I know just how it feels @Ante1 , mechanical cultivators speed things up a lot, but contrary to popular belief, they don't do all the work for you. I'll be suffering the same in the next week or so when I need to get my plot done.

I’ve filled three big bags of heather and ivy, and cleared round the base of a couple of dwarf maples. It doesn’t actually look that different from the house! Now resting my back after lunch. More paperwork to do, but I will have a day off tomorrow. It was very pleasant out, although it did try to rain just as I came in. A very light and isolated shower though. Time for a coffee. I’ll have to make it myself, OH is glued to the rugby.

Afternoon folks. Thank you for the positive work vibes today - it was quite busy but my awesome team mates made it fly by.

I’ve just had a short power-nap to recharge and it will soon be time to make some food. Fake-away Chinese probably. Any excuse for some Prawn Toasts!

I hope everyone has enjoyed a decent day with their gardening, jobs, visiting, rehearsals or relaxation plans.

Evening everybody, glad your work mates helped your working day go quickly @AuntyRach.

It was good weather here, up to 15c by lunchtime but didn't feel too good and went back to bed for an hour. Dizziness and lighheadedness for no apparent reason, strange, perhaps I didn't eat enough yesterday. I had a packet of crisps with my lunch as a precaution as I never add salt to my food. Did an hour's pruning after lunch and then called it a day. Had a cuppa with some F & N choc to add sugar and feel more myself now.

Sat here admiring the front purple leaved cherry tree, full of lovely pink blossom today.

Hope the choir practice goes well @Liriodendron.

You have been busy @Ergates, both inside and out.

Thanks, @lizzie27 - panic was necessary, but the music is coming together now. Hope the collywobbles pass quickly!

A bit of a damp afternoon, but I had a prowl around the garden, and admired swelling flower buds on the apple trees. I think I'll try to discourage the bullfinches again by hanging CDs from the lower branches. I'm not sure it works, but it makes me feel I'm doing something useful...

Two years ago, there was a "seedling swap" in our local library, where I picked up a tiny hellebore seedling. This year it's big enough to flower:

So sorry to hear you were feeling a bit 'one degree under' today @lizzie27. I hope you get a decent night's sleep tonight and feel more like yourself tomorrow morning.
Oh wow @Liriodendron. That is an absolute stunner. You were very lucky with that seedling swap. I 'fess up to having hellebore envy. I have a nice collection - must take some pictures tomorrow. Bestie commented on them when she got here yesterday. Well done @Ergates on your heather and ivy wrangling.

I must confess I'd expected a boring (but welcome!) white or purple flower on the hellebore seedling, @Ladybird4 . I certainly hadn't expected a double!

                                That's so pretty @Liriodendron.

We woke up late this morning and I forgot to post.

This morning we did the weekly shop. The supermarket was very quiet, unusual for a Saturday. I also bought 6 more bags of compost for mulching.

I spent most of the afternoon gardening. Think I'll put it on the gardening thread. Loads to do. Probably a good thing it will rain tomorrow, I'm rather stiff.
