In the absence of a third party involvement, the Coroner will put it down as Misadventure...

I was looking for some in a couple of local garden centres , not stocked, both of them only sold Unwins seed.:dunno:
I need to expand my search.

Does anyone remember those days when sowing in wallpaper paste was the thing to do.

You may well be; would depend how far you are from Detling !
Yes it was all the rage back then; only worked if you could purloin a forcing bag from the cook. Had the advantage of the fungicidal properties, probably from the potato raw material....
Was once told Polycell was founded to dispose of the peelings from Golden Wonder once they were caught discharging into the Trent but could that be true ?.....

Cuckoo woods you mean, yes not far.
I was under the impression you were not supposed to use the polycell paste that contained the fungicide.
I think a plastic bag with the corner cut off was the way to go.

@NigelJ will your rehmannia flower this year,? I bought it once, it survived a couple of years, but faded away. It was pretty though.

@CarolineL I hope so, they have done before, they do tend to be short lived although they can self seed .

I would make records over the years to find the context of germination time and summer temperature. I had the impression that my tomato seeds told me what summer will be. Poor germination = poor summer.

Is there any scientific basis to that theory.
Do you think the seeds can for tell the weather .
Don't you think it's more likely that poor germination now could be down to bad seed, cold temperatures now etc.
Rather than due to what the weather will be like in 4 months time.

If that was the case Michael Fish would never have had a job.
As @pete said above germination will be influenced by conditions at time of germination.
Likewise if you have a lot of fruit in the autumn it says nothing about the coming winter, instead it tells you you had a good spring, resulting in good pollination and a good summer that enabled all the fruit to develop and ripen.

I have sown some broad beans ( Vicia fabia ' Bunyard's Exhibition's ) in kitchen towel innards, on a windowsill in a cool room. First time. Fingers crossed the mice don't find them.
