Not really house plants but in the cold porch, it never gets any sunshine this time of year.

@cactus_girl please can you tell me where you bought a named odontoglossum? I thought all we could get these days are Cambria types!

@CarolineL I bought it from Burnham Nurseries in Devon at least 15 years ago. So it is quite old. It loves the north facing windowsill and grows quite quickly. I often have to cut slices off to get it to fit in the pot. Next time I do this I may be able to pot up the offcut.

Thanks @cactus_girl - I bought my first orchids from Burnham more like 45 -50 years ago! I thought they had gone over to mostly species ones. As a student, I even drove over to Mansell and Hatchers nursery in Leeds to buy orchids- sadly they've long gone.

@CarolineL when we went around the nursery all those years ago I didn't know much about orchids at all. I thought it looked nice as it was flowering away. It was actually looking a bit pale, but hubby said he wanted it. We drove back here and then I thought what is it? So I did email them to find out.

These days I just try different orchids out on the kitchen windowsill. I don't seek out anything in particular. This is my only named one - the rest are SM or local GC ones, usually from the bargain basement. But I am surprised at the different ones you can get in the SM.

I think odontoglossums have been renamed? But I really don't follow such things so I have no idea really!

In a friend's house, kalanchoe daigremontana(?) flowers well. I've now acquired some plantlets...
