Overrun with Weeds!

I too have weed issues, so wonder what the best way is to get rid of please? I could use weed killer, but have cats, so reluctant, or could use a weed burner which would render the weed seeds unviable. Or if try pulling the weed out it snaps and leaves the route in and they come back. A issue I feed my pots with a fertilizer and this spills over and feeds the weeds too. Any suggestions please?

 

Weedkiller would only kill the weeds that are growing, so would never be a permanent solution anyway.
What is it you want to have on the ground instead of weeds? You might consider finding ground cover plants that you do like, or a mulch of some kind, for example...

 

Years ago I had a problem with bracken taking over my garden. Living rurally at the time root runners were coming in from the surrounding fields.

I tried Roundup and SBK but neither had any effect. I then bought Gallup 360 and that cleared it all. After a second spraying to finish off the few bits that remained I also discovered it had cleared all the bracken in the fields within 30ft of my garden. I've also used it to clear ground elder.

It will kill just about anything so if you intend using it be sure to spray it on a calm day. Or make up a solution and paint it on the foliage.

That looks like annual grass so weedkiller is totally pointless unless there is still something effective like the old Pathclear that prevented seeds from germinating for 6 months. Read the tiny print on the labels...if the ingredient is pelargonic acid, save your money and time. Far better clear the pots to one side, get an old hoe or knife and physically scrape the plants out, binning as much seed as possible. Dandelions are a different matter, especially in paving. Glyphosate painted onto healthy leaves will travel down and kill the tap root.
