@Penny_Forthem :yikes: I calculate that if you heal as most people do, your timeline will have you back to two handed tasks by May 9th which is also the "last risk of frost" around my parts.

I hope you heal even quicker. So, so unfair!

Did a lot of weeding in the front garden, the robin kept coming down to get the grubs where i disturbed the soil.

I cleared a couple of trees away last year, to make space for some raspberry canes, which I duly planted last autumn.
This year I found Spanish bluebells growing up amongst them, but decided to avoid surgically removing them until they had flowered, died back, and given the raspberries a chance to settle in.
This afternoon I let Mrs F loose in the garden, and without saying anything, "kindly" dug out the bluebells, because she thought they were smothering the raspberries.
When I went down later, she'd used a trowel to dig out the bluebells - and seriously disturbed the roots of half of the raspberry canes!!

          Sigh!!

I had to re-dig them in.

I finished manuring the roses and also did some clematis. The clematis are suddenly growing fast and needed tying in. In between walking across the lawn from one to the other, somehow I've lost/misplaced my green ball of twine. I can't find it anywhere and I need it!
I also did more pruning and weeding because I got sidetracked as usual.

So … peeved gardener here. :th scifD36: Geranium Alba! Easy enough to grow, you’d think, especially in a garden where Magnificum, Azure Rush, and others flourish. But, apparently not. I’ve had 4 now. The first had flowers for two yrs, then leaves only in the 3rd, and then disappeared. The 2nd and 3rd were fine for 2 yrs and then that was it. The 4th was new last yr, flowered fairly well … but no sign of it coming back this season.

                  :gaah:

Are we talking G. sanguineum Alba? I had a lot of trouble getting that established despite the pink one growing like a weed!

Lovely weather today, so outside all day. Got the drill out and put a few more screws into another part of the fence for a climbing frame and then attached some wire. Did the same with the other climbing frames, so they're all ready to go now. Moved the Alpine tyre to a sunnier spot. I bought a little pot of Ivy earlier in the week and put it into one of the wooden planters which has the new Hebe in. Added some more soil to one of the borders. Other than that I've been chilling in the garden as the noisy neighbours have gone out both sides!! Just sunshine and birdsong ❤️ .

I don't know where I should post this. These little seedlings have appeared in all 3 borders . As the original soil was covered with membrane and geavel Im assuming theyve come from the new ,peat free compost and peat free soil I added. Anyone know what they are, please?

I have been tending to MIL’s garden today. I did her some pots with Spring bulbs last Autumn and they have been fabulous. Part of her present today was a selection of Summer bulbs. They are perfect to plant snd forget, so ideal for non-gardeners. Why have I only just discovered the brilliance of bulbs?! Good value too.

Just finishing a bit of pruning of some wayward boundary hedge/shrubs as it’s potential nesting time from now so last chance to tidy.

Doing a few other jobs and will have to give all my pots a good soak tonight as no rain forecast for a while.

I'm so proud of myself :pathd:

After a lifetime of resisting any meaningful labelling I have slowly graduated from masking tape (ok, I still have to learn to remove it when I re-use the pot to avoid Pennisetum Chilli Jazz confusion) to dazzling new heights:

                              labels.jpg

I even wrote on the other side the colour, height and evergreenness as needed. Being a proud owner of 18 young cheapy climbers in pots forced me to take this step. Good girl me!

Potted up and on everything, sowed Cosmos and moved plants from windowsill to greenhouse, from greenhouse to outdoors etc etc. Spring tetris :)

Even though the actual "garden" is still just a bumpy square of clay under construction, the cuttings, overwintered bareroots and bulbs plus seedlings start to bring in some proper garden feeling.

Hmm, hard to say till they’ve grown a bit more, but there does seem to be quite a few, so possibly they could be intent on world domination. :hate-shocked:
