Hi Janine, only too glad if what i have done helps. Im still learning myself and busy borrowing ideas. We have a folder on the computer full of pictures of gardens and ideas!

What are you currently growing? do you have a tropical theme yourself?

Gaz brilliant pictures you do indeed have a fantastic garden, I really like it.

I was going to turn our whole back garden into a themed jungle trail but little'uns needs come before our own needs so we have got to think ahead and leave room for a paddling pool and a little play area so our wavy lawn has got to stay.

I still intend to have fun areas for the slightly bigger kids (adults) because after all the garden is a wonderful escape for not only the young'ens but us oldies too!
    :D Hel.xxx.

    Thanks again guys.

Nat, the Musa Basjoo bananas have been permanently planted out for between 2 and 3 years now. They have had a bit of frost fleece when smaller, but im not sure ill do anything this year.

The sikimensis are also in the ground but will be protected they have proved less hardy for me than basjoo, protection will be a few layers of frost fleece and a good mulch of bark.

The Musella lasiocarpa were oly planted out this year, having been pot grown for the previous 3. They may get a bit of something over the top but im not too worried about them, i have a good sized spare clump in a pot now so if the ground ones dont come back i have a reserve for next year.

The ensette murellii and monty will be lifted and go in the greeenhouse. I have qiute a few other bananas that didnt make it outside this year, musa florida, cheesmanii, siam ruby and helens hybrid for example, some of these will be in the greenhouse, but the florida and siam ruby wont be risked, they will find a place in the house somewhere.

The plant in picture 5 is a very young albizia 'summer chocolate'. We tried growing this from seed this year but they all turned out plain green. Spotted that towards the end of the summer in a local garden centre so had to snap it up :) It will be just my luck that all my plain green seed ones turn purple now! :)

Hel, maybe the lawn could become a 'jungle clearing' :)

Theres plenty of tropical and tropical looking plants that can be just left out, I do try to only have plants that can stay out...... but there is always that 'special' plant!!!
