    Good afternoon to you all!!

Spring weather. Cloudy, sunny, a shower, sunny.

Your day today does sound exciting @Goldenlily26 Eagerly waiting for "la suite"...... What was on the lunch menu?

@Obelix-Vendée I buy the "gammon" at the supermarket - deli counter and ask for the ham to be cut into thick slices. I have a recipe for Gammon in Meursault which is nice with plain boiled potatoes. The butcher will slice it for you, of course.

The sun is out, so some jobs to be done this afternoon. Women's rugby later. France is playing England.

    Have a pleasant day.

I thought the same. Said to my husband, he could have gone to the library, looked up his facebook, got to the messages part, he did already have our address on messages because he mailed the check to us. Then he could have gone on Google Maps, printed out the directions. And printed out directions to get home later etc. He was only 2 hour drive from us, or even an hour and 45 mins. depending on traffic.
We have done similar things in our travels, not losing cell phone part, but needed to get to the library to print something out to help our travels or whatever it was. I recall even when I was up on Cabots Trail in Canada found a library for something I needed to print out. Just about every hotel i have stayed at has a internet room with printer. Well as husband says, it is his problem now.
And I did look him up, his age looking was about mine, so he did live through only using a paper map.

Good afternoon, everyone. After a long day at plots yesterday taking it a bit easier today. I have cut the front grass. My wife spotted these little critters on our Viburnum this morning. I tried to enquire on RHS site but couldn't get the pictures to load. 20250426_112641_resized.jpg 20250426_112653.jpg

Any clues? Tiny less than 1mm pics are magnified.

@lizzie27 thinking about when "we" travel. I am very proactive, have all the hotel/ Inn/ airbnb confirmation, address, phone printed out, have any necessary registration information printed out (for the show car). Even research in a few sources "good restaurants" to try at locations. And we have a big USA Atlas in the car to look at in case we don't like how the GPS is sending us. I do like maps by the way. We have discovered that I should try to get a "Truckers" GPS app. especially to use when we travel with the trailer.

Ill even print out "things to see" on trip adviser just in case we have time to see stuff, that's usually involves schedules with the car show situation.

Same when we fly, all is printed out, of course can't take the atlas with us, LOL.

@Allotment Boy I don't know but it's not viburnum beetle whose larvae eat the foliage in spring and then the adults tuck in in summer - Viburnum beetle / RHS

My sewing room is now organised - again. Purchases to stash after last week's expo and pattern pieces and fabric for my next frock organised and ironed. My stuff is ready for patchwork on Monday tho I won't be doing any patchwork as we have a workshop on the embrodery for our May "trousse" project.

Now to decide how to cook tonight's roast lamb dinner cos OH is our for a golfing dinner tomorrow night so Sunday dinner has moved forward.

@Tui34 when I think gammon it's the kind you grill in thick slices and have with veggies or sliced pineapple. Or the kind of joint you cook and then slice off the skin, cut a diamond pattern and stud with cloves before roasting to finish it. Must admit I'm not keen on French ham. Don't know what they do with it but it's not right.

Evening folks. Having Sunday dinner tonight too @Obelix-Vendée as I’m working 12 hours tomorrow. Roast veg Austrian-style, with chicken. Well it may not be Austrian but that’s what I call it - small chunks of potato, shallots, mushrooms and whatever else I have - in olive oil and herby seasoning.

I’ve set up my poly greenhouse today. The frame needed reinforcing but it’s still operational. I’ll give my seedlings a bit more indoor growing and once they go to new pots, they can go in the greenhouse.

I hope everyone is doing ok and having a good weekend.

@Butterfly6 I absolutely love that description of your great uncle.Well done him. I do think it was a shame that he didn't get his medal - which I consider he was really entitled to. I have one of those little wooden gizmos for making biodegradable pots out of newspaper and very handy it is too. @Goldenlily26 when I go to my Bestie's and her granddaughter is there we have to have a spell of supermarket shopping. She, too, has a 'cash' register that pings but her's does not have the chip and pin facility - how clever is that! It sounds as though you might be in for a lovely surprise. Sorry to read you are still a bit 'bunged up @Obelix-Vendée. I hope you feel even more recovered tomorrow.Today is the first time I have ever made a gluten free almond cake. It looks OK but tomorrow will be the decider,

@Allotment Boy do you think those little critters could be black bean aphids which are known to overwinter on viburnums as well as other plants?
@Tui34 I watched the rugby and it couldn't have been a closer finish - England winning by one point!

Evening everybody, a quiet day for us today. Our usual walk then gardening most of the day for me, just doing small, pottering type jobs as I walked up and down and saw what needed doing.
We didn't get all the forecasted rain and it turned out very warm and sunny.

I haven't had a 'thin' week for 3 weeks now @Obelix-Vendée and @Penny_Forthem so goodness knows what I weigh at the moment. I'm not too bothered as I know I can lose any surplus weight again. OH is better today so both of us back on the wagon next week hopefully before he goes off on a canal trip. Good that you're getting better Obelix. No sign of your feline visitor today?

Glad you're enjoying your visitors @Goldenlily26 but don't overdo it. The 'posh' lunch does sound exciting, enjoy!

So sister-in-law, husbands brother's wife, on her facebook was talking about a picnic she went to couple weeks ago and wore some designer name shoe, she actually says and I wore XXXXX shoes to the picnic.
I can't respond. just rolling my eyes.

BTW, designer name anything to me is nuts .

Hello everyone! Busy day in the garden for me - lovely weather, with a drying wind, so I got some much needed weeding done and planted out some young geraniums and veronicas from a nursery bed. Now about to relax with the next book club offering - "Intermezzo" by Sally Rooney.

@Allotment Boy - I agree with @Ladybird4 that those insects are black bean aphids. Not sure why they need spikes on their behinds...

Our visitors gave me a lovely Hotel Chocolat Easter egg as a thank you. I'm having a little bit each day until it's used up - I don't diet anyway, but if my jeans get a bit tight I give up biscuits & cakes for a bit.

I'm in total agreement about designer labels, @redstar . My clothes are definitely bought for comfort and longevity, usually from a charity shop. Better things to spend money on (plants, for instance. I'm going to a plant fair tomorrow)!

@lizzie27 It seems to be two pussies. OH and Possum say it's grey tabby and white but the one I saw was Siamese brown and caramel with long hair and then I saw the tabby too. The first visit tends to be around midnight and they eat what I put outside then get another vist later for any inside food. If they meet we get a singsong outside.

Dinner was good except for a failed pavlova. Possum wanted Eton Mess but Ilike my meringue chewy so did a pav base with funny sugars and it was only chewy so take heed - don't try a pav base with brown sugar and stevia.

@Liriodendron I have a few pieces by Belgian designers such as Olivier Strelli I picked up ine the sales but have passed them on to Possum who occasionally needs a smart jacket for work. I also have Vogue designer patterns by Diane von Furstenberg (another Belgian), Tamotsu, Jean Muir (yes, it's old), Anne Klein, Yves St Laurent etc but none of them includes a "look at me" label. Just good styling and fit if I get it right.

Hello everyone. A lovely day beckons. I hope you have a super day at the plant fair @Liriodendron. I wonder what might leap into your basket as you move about! :) Coffee morning this morning so pottering in the garden will be a bit later than usual. I know I have bird feeders to top up and bird baths to clean. Apart from my Vivienne Westwood specs the nearest I get to designer clothing is M&S or my home made stuff and as I only wear jeans/trousers as long as they fit I don't worry. Some of my jeans are over 15 years old. Sigh! I'll never be a fashion icon!
