Hi again folks. Just thought I'd post a couple of pics of the Crown Princess Margareta up against a trellis. I know I need to train it along the trellis, but otherwise does it look ok ? Cheers...freddy.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

I like your trellis Freddy! and your rose looks ok as well.

I have been known to put wires in between the trellis holes for tying in climbers, I don't know if it would help your rose Freddy, perhaps stop it from getting blown about too much in the wind.

    Hope this Helps!

Hi plant1star. I was actually thinking of putting in some wires horizontally to encourage branching :thumb:

That trellis looks fantastic and strong Freddy, I would put the horizontal wires in too. It will look amazing once the rose has got in it's stride.

Trellis looks fab Freddy. It also reminds me I have to sort out the wiring for my climbing rose which I've been putting off doing....

Hi folks. So the general opinion is that it looks ok ? Also, Pro Guard (Paul) said something about feeding this month. What's the best thing/product to feed it with ? Cheers...freddy.

Hi Freddy looks great:thumb: I usually do mine in early April but that is just my personal choice and July. Never after July it creats soft wood going in to the Winter.
Give them nitrates, phosphates and potash in balanced proportions: easy on the nitrate or they will be all foliage and no flowers; more generous with the potash. You can either use a Commercial Rose feed and give the Roses the exact amount , Organic Option.
Wood ash contains potash, but potash is very soluble and gets lost in the soil quickly. It amounts to a quick snack rather than a steady feed. Some people add seaweed, which is good for trace elements. And soot, if you can get it, for the sulphur.

Ok WOO, thanks. I think I'll go for the ready made option, something commercial. BTW, you may have missed my posting on another thread, just to say I bought Lady Of Shalott, and I'll be posting some pics as soon as it flowers, along with the other roses I have :thumb:

    The Lady of Shalott-Tennyson

" ON either side the river lie
Long fields of barley and of rye,
That clothe the world and meet the sky.
And thro' the field the road runs by
    To manytowered Camelot.
    The yellowleavèd waterlily,
    The greensheathèd daffodilly,
    Tremble in the water chilly,
    Round about Shalott. "

I have chosen to feed this year with fish, blood and bone-mainly because I used all the toprose up last year.

Hi folks. Well, I bought some rose 'stuff' down at B&Q along with some green wire. I fed all the roses and put up the wires, only thing to do now is wait..and wait.... I wish I had more patience ! Thing is, this is my first year 'proper' at my current home having moved in Dec 07. All the groundwork is pretty much done, so come on you roses, flower will you ! :D Cheers...freddy.

Hi WOO. I guess if it all came as you wanted it, it would lose it's magic. All part of the fascination, I guess. Cheers...freddy.
