    I can taste them over here, roders! :thumb: They seem to be ripe earlier over there, the ones in the kids garden are not that far along yet.

    They had a great crop last year, too many to eat even over a longer period of time. So we cracked and froze them! We didn't want to take a chance on drying and keeping them like that.

    Anyway, we still have plenty in the freezer. I put them in little plastic baggies with the weight noted - different weights for different cakes.

    A good crop there, very few walnuts down my way, last years crop was very heavy though.

    Out of interest anybody know a good way to keep squirrels away from walnuts? My new house has a mature tree in the garden teaming with them (although not ready yet) but the old owner said he has to kill the squirrels to protect the nuts (I think he said he has shot 10 of them this year!) I'm not much of a shot and wondering if any better ideas?
