    Good evening, folk. :)

I'll kick this month off as I'm so pleased my Salvia 'Mystic Spires' .... courtesy of PeterS .... has started to bloom ....

And to give a slightly different slant to the theme, I'm showing 'next year's flowers/trees' .....

    Canna seed pods ....

Jacaranda seed pods (the green from this year and the brown from last) ...

...and the Judas Tree pods ...

I think the seed pods can be just as attractive as the flowers. :thumb:

Lovely, Sis, and what a gorgeous colour of the Canna!

Yes, seed pods can look very pretty, both still on the tree or in dry arrangements. I still have the Jacaranda pods from two years ago. Pretty in a decoration at any time of the year, even Christmas!

Great pics Lol, have the cannas produced seeds before? I was just wondering as some will not set seed, they get to the swollen bud stage and then they rot with no seed inside. Hope your peach one does as it is a cracker.:thumb:

    Evening strongy. :)

Thank you ... also to Sis and Cutie. xx

Strongy, it's only the peach and the rose-coloured ones (no names I'm afraid) that seed and have done for the last two years. The others .... a yellow with dark flecks/spots on the throat of the petals, Brilliant (a bright red) and Lucifer (which has turned out pure yellow ) have never set seed.

On the two I get between two to four (usually two) seeds from each pod which I pick when they turn black.

My favourite is the rose-coloured one which is tall compared to the others and has purplish leaves (if you look back at some of the pics last month). I'll keep you .... and Cutie .... in mind for the peach should I get enough seeds this season .... still a few months to go. :thumb: I plan to split the tubers this winter but I think seed is more pure. ... but perhaps I'm wrong there .... :)

    Evening Cutie :)x

I've already promised bobj and Ivory some seeds and they are limited ..... but if push comes to shove I'll send you some tubers .... mine are NOT the diseased ones plaguing the world at the moment .... which is quite a disaster.

Hey, I just copied your darling little kisses ..... replaces our missing one .... xx

Thank you imp and walnut. That's a lovely crinkly Hibiscus, walnut. There's quite a variety of petal textures. Have you seen the dinner plate sized ones? My three have lots of new buds but no flowers at the moment.

We are just now coming into our Autumn/Winter blooms and one of my favourites is a climber called the Pink Trumpet Vine which can reach 20 meters tall .... mine is a mere 4-5 at the moment so it has a long way to go .....

    Hi bobj.

It tolerates light frost. I have have it's two cousins .... Pandorea jasminoides, one plain and one variegated. These two are not so rampant, only to 10 meters but apparently do well in greenhouses. They are pale pink with red throats and are slightly talcum powdery scented.

I didn't have any pods on the pictured one last year although I did the year before (they are about a foot long). I get lots of pots on the plain cousin and have had none on the variegated.

I'll see what I get this year, okay? ;)
