There I was, minding my own business and these products just jumped off the shelf at me. I was in Poundland, who are selling packets of bulbs and dry root plants for £1 each. This included

    25 Daffodils for £1 - which I didn't buy
4 Red Hot Pokers - no species name for £1, which I did buy
3 Eryngium planum for £1, which I also bought.
and a few other types were being sold

I then went into Wilkinson's to see if they could better those prices. They couldn't but they were selling their own brand feed for less than Miraclegrow - but that price had then been cut by 50%. So I bought 6 kilos at £1.74 per kilo. Its not the same as Miraclegrow as it has a high potassium level - but the NPK ratio is essentially exactly the same as Phostrogen - excellent for flowers and fruits.

Many of the dry root plants were sprouting - showing at least that they were alive. So I will pot them up. But I am not sure whether it is a good idea to buy sprouting plants that should be dormant.

Some of my perennials have new growth after being cut back earlier this year. At that sort of price, it's worth trying!

Wilkinson's cheap packs of mixed crocus jumped into my basket when I was there a couple of weeks ago. And Alliums always seem to end up in my basket.

I've managed to resist the poundland bargains so far - my garden is FULL UP!

Apart from bulbs. Crocus, daffs and tulips. Will see how they go.
