I was just wondering if there was going to maybe a nice website theme? not that the current one isn't lovely it's just a bit purply and green lol I was thinking as this a gardening forum maybe just a few more pictures of flowers and plants...i know making it look nice is just a commodity and there's probably allot of more important things to consider before this...:p

You would leave because you didn't like the banner??

Well, that's a bit of a strange reason [IMG]

alot of people take one look at a websites design and decide that they much prefer the flashier site because they prefer the colour or the pretty pictures... and generally speaking most internet users in the UK have broadband (and if they don't then there getting royally s****** over on there 1p a minute dial up) and so pages will still load fast

Just take a look at the current first five search results on google (excluding gardeners corner) for "gardening forum" and you can see that they all have have more pictures on the front page or a flashy theme

    http://www.gardenbanter.co.uk/
    http://www.gardening-zone.co.uk/gardening_forum/
    http://www.gardenforum.co.uk/
    http://www.uk.gardenweb.com/forums/ukgard/
    http://www.vegetable-gardens.co.uk/forum/

and none of them look as good as GC content wise...

    Honest opinion?

As a relative newcomer to the site I have found this site to be

    on the plus side-

    a) readable

    b) quick to download pages

    c) intelligently moderated

    d) for want of a better turn of phrase-not all coat and no knickers!

    on the minuses

    a) no sticky threads about things like - how to post pics, the problem with the site update at 12 at night etc.

    But that`s about it.

There is a reason why we all keep coming back here-it`s ease of use.

So a well done to those that administrate and maintain the site. Thankyou.

I completely agree I'm not complaining about how the site's run (it's excellent by the way :D) I just wondered if we could have a splash of colour

Wouldn`t that slow it all down though?

well if there where large png images and flash videos but I'm thinking more along the lines of a slightly more flowery theme with a few well placed images which wouldn't drastically slow anything down:thumb:

The site runs slow enough as it is, we don't all have access to super fast internet conections. It is basically a text site, if you want pretty pics, there's plenty to choose from on the net. I'm on broadband but sometimes have to set to not download graphics to get any decent speed. One of my fav chat forums uses NO graphics at all. Much better in my opinion.
