There Goes my Decking!!!

I was planning on sorting out some decking as a late summer project (hoping to get some items on discount due to it being the end of the season!) but i woke up this morning to find my fence ripped in half

I knew is was on it's way out be was hoping it would survive the winter. Just had 2 quotes to replace it... i didn't realise how expensive fencing is :eek: i need to change my proffession!!!

Would it really cost all that much to fix it yourself? Rough sawn timber from a merchant wouldn`t cost as much as new decking-or even approaching it.

 

if its close board then you can usually just replace the posts. The rails and feather boards are normally ok.

 

unfortunately the posts have been ripped out of the ground and the pannels ripped in half (came down in style!) I could attempt doing it myself but honestly it is too much of a job for me, if it was just the pannels I would give it a go...

oh well... just have to save my pennies for decking next year and splash my cash on a new fence instead!

On the upside means that i can get rid of the pesky pine tree's in front of the fence that have been bugging me as i'm allergic the them! Next post will be me winging about the rash i'm covered in from digging them up, you can't win

Thankyou for the suggestions though... wish i wasn't so much of a girl, need to learn to be more handy round the house to tackle these jobs in future!

I had a couple of quotes for fencing last year, over £500 for a strech of just 5 panels.

I decided to have a go myself, and although taking longer than the professionals i got the job done over the following 2 weekends. It wasnt nearly as hard as i thought. I even went for concrete posts rather than wood as i really dont want to have to fix it again!

 

I do it myself too-it`s amazing how much my skill improves when I ask for quotes.

 

Just to let u know that Wickes have got their decking board reduced to £3.99 and there are 20% vouchers in papers. I got my voucher from yesterdays sun. We went and got some wood and some decking board and we saved £19.90!
