Hi all, as you know I haven't an allotment & don't grow my own but my neighbours do (although not an allotment, just the garden). However I do love own grown veg etc. Today I have very red fingertips.....can you gues why? My neighbour gave me a jar of her own cooked beetroot & I just couldn't resist:D Eating out of a jar, how common:eek: Absolutely scrumptious:p:D Beats shop bought every time!

    cheers

Yummy yummy Sandra I must admit the fellows were still falling over theirselves last week and amongst the bounty of lovely stuff was some beetroot as you say it really is far better than any shop brought ones just a shame that the pan turns black.... talk about needing a good scrub the pan that is and not me!:D Hel.xxx.

Wrap them in foil and roast them in the oven - no black pans that way - and they taste fab!

I love beetroot too and will eat it cooked, baked or even juiced.
Kandyfloww, I'd be happy to liberate some of your pickled beetroot.:D:D

i have a seriouse fobia about beetroot . i have not a clue as to why

for me beetroot is like draging your nails down a blackboard SSSQQQUUUEEELLLLLLL or
    spiders
    bugs
    and many more
    id rather not go on
i can do most things and im scared of not alot. but beetroot is my only real cringe factor
    im working on it though
managed to grow some beets up the loty
ive gone from absoluty fearing and hating the beet to growing and picking it . i can now handle the beet without a prob .

maybe next year i can not only grow the stuf better but maybe perhaps i could try a taste.
the allotment is fast changing my taste on foods :thumb:

I am a huge fan of beetroot. Fresh from the garden or my own pickled beetroot. :thumb: My husbands favourite sandwich is beetroot, salad cream and onion -weird:cool:

I once had a large crop of Beetroot. Although I knew how to grow the stuff, I didn't know how to pickle it. I neglected to boil it before adding the vinegar. I am hoping that one day, the acid from the vinegar will soften the slices!
