I think everyone rues the day they plant x crocosmiiflora!!!!! It gives crocosmia a bad name......... you threw some in the compost bins????? LOL

Luckily that is really the only one that spreads like that.

    Hi Mr. Crocosmia.

Thanks for the heads up about x crocosmiiflora. If it's going to give me grief later on I think it'd be best to get this sorted early. Would you be able to identify it if I posted a picture?

In the meantime, here's a picture of what I picked up last weekends car boot for £6. They're now all planted in a new bed i've started working on.

My best buy at a boot sale was a copy of the RHS Encyclopaedia of Plants and Flowers. £35 pounds-worth for a fiver!! Full of beautiful pics and info. It's a bit big to read in bed, though!
BTW, Clematis - Any idea of the name of your hibiscus-bargain? It's lovely. I have a white one and a 'Bluebird' but I'd love one like yours.

That's a nice little haul, Anthony, I think you've got some lobelia cardinalis there. not sure about the blue stuff, could it be salvia? or possibly campanula (although it seems a bit late)?

It's been a bad year for boot sales this summer, I've only been to two and didn't get anything worth mentioning.

Oh dear Little Miss get down to a local car boot (weather permitting) and grab some bargains.

Don't forget to haggle though it's makes the pennies go so much further and it's really great fun seeing what you can find almost like being a little kid again and getting a lucky bag.....goodness me I'm showing my age again :help:

You never know what you may find and you do meet some very colourful characters on them, I'm sure the sellers think that about me.

Good luck and don't forget to tell us all about your haul.Hel.xxx.

    Thanks Tiarella.

The Lobelia Cardinalis are lovely plants with beautiful flowers ... or they were ... I went out to the garden this morning and one of them was stripped bare and another was covered by tens of slugs. I had to pick each off and lay down some pellets.

    Bummer!
