Good evening Stu and welcome to the site.:gnthb: Your tree is an Acer, possibly Crimson Queen or Crimson King.:thumb:

    Welcome from me too Stu.

As Dai has said it's an acer. The damage to the leaves is either from strong sunlight or wind or a combination of both. I've a couple of similar ones, they need plenty of water and prefer a shady location. Mine are in direct sun so I spray the foliage with a hose a couple of times during the day when it's very warm.....Well I used to, now I just turn on my pop-up sprinklers for a few minutes "since I went all posh."

dai, I don't believe it is Acer palmatum var dissectum Crimson Queen either as this has a weeping growth habit, it also has dissected leaves. See....

Definitely Acer palmatum autopurpurea as Silver Surfer says - just like the one in my previous garden. It probably got caught with a later frost which damaged a lot of Acers around here causing the leaves to wither rather early.

    Welcome to the forum Stu.
    Definitely an Acer.
The damage to the leaves is weather damage. Nothing to worry about and nothing to do.
The tree is deciduous so it will loose all those leaves and you will get brand new ones next year.
Hope the weather suits it better.
