I bought 3 curcuma rhizones in June and I have planted them all in one large pot. One has shooted and is about 8in. high. It is inside in a sunny position. I would like some information on how to look after it. Thanks.

I have one, looking like a Dahlia rhizome - did everything it says on your wonderful link Ivory - and still it is doing almost nothing! It does have a tiny sprout about 1cm high at the centre. Nothing else. No roots have been made However the rhizome looks healthy enough with no rotting. Having asked around I was advised to raise this up almost to the surface of the compost and allow the sun to get at it.
    Still no luck!
    Any advice anyone?

PS bought from Taylors bulbs and labelled as "Thai Supreme"

Thanks for your posts Ivory and wilroda. One of the rhizomes is growing very fast - about 8ins in a week but no luck from the other 2.
Will keep you informed of its progress.
I bought them from BBC Gardeners World Llive in June the year.

I can only tell you how I got on a few years back.
I bought a flowering plant and thinking that I'd had sucsess with gingers this would be the same.
I dont think it is, I think it needs more heat, and for longer, in order to flower.

All I could manage the following year was a mass of leaves.
But dont let me put you off:)

I dont bother with it anymore:)
