    Hi,

I am a new member today. It seemed to take me ages to register as i kept getting things wrong! I am also doing something wrong with my greenhouse tomatoes. They look to be very healthy plants -Gardener's Delight and plums (variety not known)- they have had plenty of flowers but are not setting any fruit. Any helpful hints please?

Hi Sally welcome to the forum, try brushing your tomato flowers with a small soft brush to help pollinate them.

You need to gentle shake the plants to dislodge the pollen - you should then be able to smell it! or at least to see it floating down. Misting can help too - higher humidity helps make the pollen sticky, or somesuch.

If your greenhouse is extremely hot then the fruit won't set.

If they are in pots, or grow bags, water little and often - for pots [I don't do bags, so don't know] I do about 1L / plant at the main watering and half that once or twice more during the day.
Less on overcast / cooler days, more on sweltering days.

They probably don't want to be in a draft, but that may be hard to control. My ideal is to open the roof vents and a louvre at the end of the greenhouse, so that the "rising heat" draws more air in - rather than leaving the door wide open and having a howling gale through the house - well, some slight exaggeration, but I'm sure you get the picture ;)
