We picked our first one 3rd week in June but this was from a sowing early last November. We're just starting to see our main crop (greenhouse) ripening and picked about 1kg today.

Your toms will ripen when they're ready and if they are a bit late starting then they'll last all that bit longer:) Some folk might advocate increasing the feed but I'm reluctant to do this until later in the year as I reckon that letting them take their own sweet time results in a much better taste.

One of the varieties we are growing is called black Russian. My husband is eagerly awaiting them to ripen, they have huge fruits on at the moment. Personally I prefer red tomatoes :thumb:

We bought all ours as small plants this year.

I'm using 'Tamina' for the first time this year. The plants look good and strong and the fruit looks even and a good size but, alas, still all green. I can wait :)

My tomatoes are still green however have picked several off anther plant guess its a lack of sun my Big Boy tomatoes will take a little longer unless we have sunny weather for a couple of weeks.

My cucumbers are doing fine have picked five of plant shown and had five from aonther plant.

I have (3 Big Boy plants) also (1 Alicante) and think the wife bought 1 Shirley picked another five today from one of the plants they will all be starting to ripen soon with the recent sunny days.

ie Big Boy are the top two photos and beleive the bottom photo is Shirley.

Wow, those cucumbers look amazing! I don't know how did you make it to look like that!?
I remember when I was a little girl my parents grow tomatoes in our house - just in big pots. It was a great smell of it. Next they plant them in the garden.
Tomatoes fresh from the garden are the best what people can have in the summer! :)

Can you get solid, granulated, plant food designed for tomatoes, for scattering on the surface and allowing it to dissolve and feed the plant gradually as water is applied from above? I found a large tub of granulated plant food in B&Q but I gather it is more designed for forking into a general vegetable plot. Maybe there is not much difference in the recipe? Being lazy I have a dripper system to water the beasties, and getting liquid feed into the dripper system is a non-starter.
