    Just wondered if anyone knows if there is a hot line to pass on info about tax dodgers.

    Paul's link is for benefit fraud.

    With tax evasion you usually have to report it to the tax office but they rarely follow it up unless you give your name. If you do give your details they have to follow it up.

    I'm just not too impressed having to pay tax when I have builders being employed for cash next door working late and making a row into the bargain!
    It's a bit difficult to ID them with unmarked vehicles turning up so I thought I'd invite a tax man to visit during the works.
    I've threatened a couple of them and seen them off but now I think the payer ought to be brought to book too.

    A while back when the government brought in the Proceeds of crime act, and various money laundering regulation the plan was for agencies to work together. If the tax man or whoever had a lot of reports about the same person, even for minor 'issues' then they would in theory be more likey to investigate.

    Yep. All that the tax they're avoiding could go to help the the Americans fighting a war in Iraq.:rolleyes:
