Cut back Choisya

    I have a very large Choisya in my garden which is taking up to much room in the border I just wondered if I can cut it right back or just a trim

    I'd leave it alone now and cut it back after flowering next year.:)

    You can cut it anytime you like, but if you do it now you will lose next years flowers.

    Choisya is pretty well bomb proof. You can cut it back hard but as Alice says, it may not flower as well next year. But, from experience, it will come back, healthier than ever, in no time. Go ahead and chop!:thmb:

    I tend to think if you do it now it might well put up new soft growth this autumn that will get killed off by winter frost.
    I know it wont kill the plant but it could look a real mess by spring.

    Cut it back hard in late winter/ early spring, forget the flowers they don't do anything for the shrub anyway. They are one of the most indestructible evergreen shrubs.

    Well if you dont like the flowers you might as well dig it out.:)

    I kind of like them.
