dandelions!

I'm not expert, so please anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a weed infested lawn a sign that the lawn is malnourished? I understand that weeds take advantage of areas that other plants struggle in, and that grass will quickly block out all competition if it is healthy and well fed.

Is the fix perhaps to get the dandelions out using a knife (so you can be much more precise about where you dig that you could possibly be with a spade or trowel), cutting down at an angle of 45 degrees to you get as much of the root as possible but as little of the surface as possible, then a good dose of chicken poo pellets or blood and bone?

 

A dandelion is a native wild flower and has managed to survive through worse things than well nourished soil, so no that won`t do much at all really, only total and unceasing diligence can provide you with a weed free lawn, but even then one will always sneak in now and then.

Dandelions were around long before we all went crazy for flat green carpets in our gardens and will be around long after that passes away. Good IMO

 

i think the best remedy might be my trowel then!

 

I think it's a daisy-grubber you're referring to. I bought one and find it very therapeutic! Better than a trowel too, as you don't end up digging up a lump of lawn to get the weed out.
