hi all, I am a newbie on here but not all that new to gardening since I have been brought up with it. Anyway I have just started doing the gardening for one of my friends and I have found that there is something happening to a lot of the plants, some of them i have removed but there is a row of different plants in thr front garden which seem to be being eaten by something
there is a skimmia which seems to be affected worst, seems to be firstly either rust spots or something else turning patches brown then they seem to be being eaten and then it seems to be passing to neighbouring plants
there's another skimmia in the back garden which has a choisia on either side, the skimmia is affected but the choisia's aren't
here are some pics of the affected plants

this one i think is a form of laurus, and seems to have red spots on the underside of the leaves

hope you can all help me as i need to try and find out whats causing this before i pull all these plants up and replace them
dont think its catipillars but may be wrong

The first rule of gardening Steph is patience, the same applies here.:hehe::hehe::gnthb: Welcome to the site by the way. Now, some of the pics are a bit blurred so tricky recognising the plants. However, will have a stab at the pests. 1/ caterpillar or slug.
2/ The plan is Viburnum tinus, the pest is Capsid bug.
    3/ Scorch or shot hole.
4/ Caterpillar on the front plant, Leaf Miner on the plant in the background.
5/ The Laurel one I don`t know, it could be the start of rust, but not sure.
    6/ Caterpillar.
If you could post some clearer pics it would be great. However, spray them all with a systemic insecticide.:gnthb:

thanks guys, I am patient when it comes to the actual gardening:gnthb: honest!!!!!!

Apologies for the blurry pics, hadn't actually realised how blurry they were when i took them (was on my phone)
pictures 2 and 3 are the same plant as is the plant in the background on pic 4
the plan is to dig up all this row of plants anyway and was just wondering if it was something i needed to treat prior to doing this.

Sorry that you feel I have wasted your time, I was just wondering if it was something that was potentially living in the soil so I would have to treat the soil prior to planting anything else (personally if it had been my own garden then I would have just gone and done it by now but it's my friends garden and she wanted to know if it is something that could potentially affect any new plants)
If you notice I never actually asked for the plants to be identified, and i did mention in the initial post that the plants were going to be pulled up
Again, apologies if you feel i have wasted time

Steph, it`s my place to apologise, not you. I was wrong to make that last remark. You asked a question and I answered, but I didn`t listen to my own advice. I should have been patient.:thumb::old:

I`m not too bad thank you. I didn`t have you down as being a fair weather gardener. The weather and pests are what makes gardening exciting. It`s us against them, give it a go girl.:yez::yez::gnthb:
