Have they built the new fishing jetty down there yet?

I was involved in some work about it a few years back. Didn't look to me like a go-er.

Its been scuppered i'm afraid, the council wouldn't let the work start unless the trust had £1,000,000 in the bank. Ridiculous really, as the piles are already in & it wouldn't take anywhere near that to just put a jetty & barrier on top.

Im on the front of the leaflet about it, fishing from the old east pier.

We've lost the fishing off the east pier now, they put rocks at the end of the new pier & extended the beach out to them.

Can only hand line & float fish in the harbour now too.

My aquarium is the nearest I get to fishing but a work mate told me there are a lot of Bass about around Portland so maybe you'll get lucky at West Bay.
Have a great day and a great Birthday.:gnthb:

    Cheers Strongly & Barnaby,

I will be targeting the bass, get some big ones coming in close at this time of year.

Just hope I manage to get down there when the sprats are in this year, keep missing them by a matter of days in the past few years.

27lb in one evening is my record, took 3 days to smoke them, kept making the rizlas wet.

    Cheers Marley,

Never been 48 before so it should be an experience.

Remember waking up in Gatwick airport & being 21, wanted to tell people it was my birthday but resisted the urge.

Worst birthday I had was in 1995, I was working away on Inglesham church, near Lechlade. All the other guys were close enough to home to travel, but it was 100 miles from home for me, so I was camping.

I spent my birthday sitting in the car, in the rain with a bottle of wine, the highlight of the evening was getting out of the car between showers & looking for interesting bricks in the hedgerow.
